  • If people from Bristol are welcome, surely someone from Bath can come too?

  • I have it on good authority that Bathicans are more than welcome

@John... i'm going to paradiddle all over your biorhythms

  • is this the 2nd of april or the 4th of Feb??

  • Thanks Mr. Braker sir. As we're going down Winsley Hill, it would be a shame not to go up the other side of the valley up Brass Knocker Hill. We can then descend into Bath and all it's georgian splendour via Bathwick Hill. A good vegetarian option as the flies on the canal path are pretty ridonkulous.

We love our hills in the wes' coun'ry!!

  • That was the original plan last time, mista s. The decision was made to take the canal path as after 100 odd miles, most people wouldn't be too keen on doing Brassknocker. It's not th easiest climb after all. Also depending on numbers, we could be a real nuisance. The road isn't that wide and there are a lot of corners, making overtaking pretty difficult.

Also, are you the guy that organised the Bath Hillycat?

  • Bath Hillycat twas me. Working on this years route at the moment. Changing the format from a race to a group challenge ride. See if we can manage all the hills in and around Bath. I'll keep you posted. You were riding the Surly, right?

  • Nah I was on (probably) the heaviest bike in Bath; a Team Banana Falcon converted to fixed. Good work on last years run btw.

Will you be riding back to Bath? I'll probably be heading back along the river path if you fancy joining me for a few additional miles?

  • is this the 2nd of april or the 4th of Feb??

    2nd April, Henners

  • If I can resist the temptation to stop off at my house on the way to Bristol, I'll join you. I may need some persuading though.

Another two Bristol riders arriving on the 8.30 train.

  • I was just thinking about this route the other day. It's gorgeous, lots of ups and downs but very few proper climbs as I remember it.

I'm tempted by the recce, let me know where and when etc. but only if it's sunny; anything over 60 miles and the weather has to be perfect.

  • Another Bathonian here up for this.

  • yes pliss

  • @george sportif, this lovely route takes us through "the tunnel"

  • Where/what is the tunnel?

  • George is the instigator for the tunnel drag Sprints. Held in the staple hill railway tunnel just outside brizzle. In the dead of night, riders from all over the globe have gathered to battle it out along the 300m straight to be crowned 'king of the tunnel'. Bikes range from 3 year old kids bikes to crazy Columbus tubed Lo-pro funny bikes(I'm selling it, keeping it).

Short of getting a blow-job for your birthday, It's the highlight of the year in the wes' coun'ry.

  • I had contemplated a TT in the tunnel. After riding 100miles, i thinks it's best to guage interest when we arrive :)

Ah yes, I have heard of this. I was tempted to come along to the last one I heard about but I wasn't I Bath that weekend (and I'm not very fast anyway).

    Lets do it!
Been meaning to PM you about recces, can't make this one but might be able to make the B'mouth recce.

  • I can imagine the only reason people will want to sprint through the tunnel, will be to get to a pub in Bristol quicker.

  • oh mannnn. turns out it's my housemate's birthday on saturday and not only have I not got her a present, I have to ride a boombike around south london with her friends that day. LAME

  • Defo up for the Recce on March 12th....
Shift pattern and other rides makes this one fit in
Let us know what sort of time you planning to leave and i'll confirm this one.

  • I went out for a pre breakfast 20 mile loop and took in Brassknocker Hill just to jog the memory. Fuck that shit after 100 miles. Yikes! Though the ride down Bathwick hill afterwards was worth it.

  • ...and that's why the route goes along the canal!

  • It doesn't take long to walk up. So a friend of a friend told me!
