Feel your pain Super P - no more railcard and my lady is in Manchester. I'm constantly forking out to go up there - as if being in a long distance relationship isn't difficult enough already.
have you tried raileasy.com? They're pretty good.

What are you all complaining about? Privatisation is a great thing, leading to more competition, cheaper fares and greater efficiency. Since 'passengers' became 'customers' people have never had it so good. Train buffets - sorry on-board shops - now sell sandwiches with Mozzarella in them. That was never the case under British Rail. Face facts; only the private sector could ever hope to provide Italian cheese on a train.
And the really great news is that all the benefits of privatisation will soon be felt by the Post Office. -

Will we get Italian style letters?

I recently got a mature student's version of the YP railcard. This required me taking a form to my college (goldsmiths), getting it stamped and signed (by someone in the admissions office - I think assistant fees officer - position must be written on the form) and then taking it to the station. The stamp would be super easy to forge/steal and no checks took place at the station to see if it was genuine. Just saying like.

Yes but forge/steal is such a dirty word...

Not that it's relevant to you SP, but I believe it is no trouble getting a YPrailcard if you are enrolled on a PhD. I have't had the need to head into london lately so haven't bothered but I'm hoping it will be easy when I do get around to it.

have you been to fucking Manchester? After the best part of 2.5 years, I deserve a sodding medal... thank God she's finished in April and coming back to London. I liked going up there to start with and there are so lovely parts of Manchester, but it's just ground me down eventually.
braces for wave of northern hatred
Sack her for a teenager and get har to use her young person's railcard. Sorted.
