Turns out just getting divorced is the key to achieving that underfed look I’ve been chasing all these years.
And also the reason I want new clothes, lol. Mid life crisis fashion change here I come.

100% this is what I’m after. But also trying to not dress in all black like I have done forever.
I know muted green/blue/grey isn’t exactly colour explosion but it’s progress.
Without sounding stupid, I basically just have to go out shopping and looking don’t I?
Trying to look online seems so endless and tricky. But I’m struggling to even find a start point.Start with basics that can be worn frequently. Good simple heavy weight raw denim straight fit jeans, pants, plain t-shirts, functional footwear.
If you're hard on clothes like I am, then get things that age well. Heavy weight good denim, for example. Don't get white tailored chinos because they look fresh in the shop. It won't last. Once you get the basics, then get the white chinos.
Tellason in the US is probably exactly what you're looking for. Very high quality. Ages well. Looks good new and after 10 years. And age appropriate. I'm less picky about tellason pricing because it literally lasts decades and gets better with time. Strong recommend.
https://www.tellason.com/I also love Todd Snyder but this is way less hard wearing and durable. I frequently check out the sales because most of it is too expensive for my abusive use.
https://www.toddsnyder.com/If you want to go off the deep end of American style, check out black bear brand. It's kidney donation pricing but so so good.

Regarding the classic menswear stuff as in selvedge denim/wolverine shoes/lumberjack shirt and all that stuff, it can be great, or you can end up looking like a wannabe Canadian tree felling guy.

Yeah, I’ve got plenty over shirts and a few pairs of selvedge, and a set of redwings etc. but heavy wool, stiff denim and leather boots just feels a bit fucking boring.
Also, it’s fucking annoying when all my over shirts and stuff come down to my thighs because I need to size up to fit my chest. Which then looks stupid as fuck when it’s under a jacket that’s cut to your waist.

Didn't expect to see Ghiaia linked here. I can safely say I've never seen a single person in the physical retail store other than myself - and I was floored by the prices. Its nice but it ain't that nice. The owner is a super nice guy though and the whole aesthetic is sick.

yup, definitely not paying anywhere near that. but the op wanted inspo and it works well there

100% man crush. Congrats at pulling off a pair of dungarees, not an easy feat.

Sounds like vintage fit knitted jumpers will work well, tend to be a boxier fit. Check North Sea Clothing https://northseastore.myshopify.com/, esp this https://northseastore.myshopify.com/collections/wool-knitwear/products/copy-of-the-mariner-navy-blue
I echo what other says. Invest in the basics, find some brands you like and set up searches in ebay. I haven't bought anything new in years, if not a decade

This is the stuff I’m drawn to, but big chest, small waist, child bearing hips just mean they’re always baggy and creased in the middle/waist. Maybe that’s why I love dungarees - delete the tricky midsection, lol.
Edit: mancrush aww yeah <3

Dress to your proportions in that case, wear higher waist trousers with a roomy top block, with boxy fit tops. Some more good inspo here for fits like that: https://www.kafkamercantile.com/uk/ https://www.instagram.com/kafkamercantile/

As great as those are, I have two vintage heavy wool sweaters like this, one gorgeous made in UK jack Wolfskin. Unless it's freezing they just don't work, also see Tweed discussion up thread.

Kafka have relentlessly good sales. If I hadn't just visited NYC where Nepenthes had 50% off basically everything Needles and Engineered Garments from autumn/winter, ordering from Kafka sans VAT is often cheaper than buying American made stuff in America lol

Seeing as we do selfies and Nef wants inspiration, me as I went out to the workshop today, way to late, just wearing my right now favourite jacket and whatever.
Jacket is from hip Berlin Italian vintage shop.
Trousers are mfpen, favourite right now, I'll never go back to slim. But they got rid of the dad jeans pleat.
Probably ten years old Nigel Cabourn sweatshirt, made in UK, the newer ones aren't as much fun.
And boring as hell NB.

Very nice claw hand there.
So, come on, what you wearing?

Yes! Pictures are helpful!
Vinted and ebay, set up searches for a few brands/items (chore coat, for example) and just generally keep an eye out.
