Look for an N1 Deck Jacket, short and warm and most makers will use an all cotton “jungle cloth” for the outer.

I still have one of the shirts from your very first run, sadly an old housemate put it though the tumble without realising so now its rather small :(
Otherwise great products, I have turned a few people onto them!

I got one from APC last year.
Not the warmest but is non shiny.

Any parka/big coat recommendations? Nice warm winter jacket needed, must stand up to hours sitting in cold football stadiums in sleet and snow.
I'm a fan of the holubar deer hunter. Thoughts or anyone got one? https://www.oipolloi.com/collections/re-stocks/products/holubar-deer-hunter-jacket-dark-orange

Some interesting stuff from https://www.vollebak.com/ that might be up to the job?

Do you wanna look like you're part of the Green Street Elite? Or just be warm and functional? If the former, just get any big down parka, if the latter, I'd consider a high loft down jacket with a proper water and windproof shell over the top.
With that said, the Patagonia Frozen Range Parka looks good.
Or if you're partial to them I've found proper B-3s to be insanely warm (not cheap knock offs but either vintage ones or good repros). Not cheap obvs but this Rocky Feather number is sensational, too.

I have the Nanamica goretex down parka and it’s brilliant, super toasty.
Snowpeak looks nice too
The other option I sometime roll with is a proper goretex hard shell with various down layers underneath as this is easier to modulate temperature with
Arcteryx Alpha SV, Atom vest, atom jacket etc
That said I tried on their new Alpha Parka and that was pretty awesome -

I've always wondered how gore Tex plus down works? Surely the down gets damp with internal moisture from the inside of the membrane?
-
• #4011
I wouldn’t take seriously something that has a “waterproof breathable membrane“ and sells itself as a winter parka. The water vapour I produce just walking around has enough of a fight getting past all the layers of wool, cotton, nylon and down or whatever as it is.

That snow peak is well nice love the side pockets snd flat fronted ones.

Watched The Dear hunter over the weekend that lead me on a search for the orange maoutain Parker.
Nice.

That snowpeak is mint.
I'd ordered the holubar on a black friday promotion. it's nice quality, and warm, so fits the bill. Probably going to keep it but the snow peak is pretty tempting.
Got options for a shell and a down, but I cant really be bothered with the faff.

Didn't realise you tagged it up thread sorry for repost. Such a nice jkt.
Is the Holubar water proof and down filled? -
• #4016
Yeah it's 90/10 down. Seems to be windproof and would definitely be fine in the snow, not sure it would be the best choice in a long downpour but it looks like a hardy bit of kit for winter.

I like the holubar was just coming up with alternative solutions :)

Hestra Wakayama gloves? briefly tried a pair on and thinking of getting them for christmas from the mrs, anyone got a pair?
-
• #4020
I had a pair of the hestra utsjo (till i left one of them in a taxi). Brilliant gloves.
-
• #4021
Not that particular model but I think I have about 4-5-6 different pairs of gloves and mittens from Hestra. All of them are proper good so doubt you'll go wrong with any of these.

The only thing I really disliked with the Holubar jacket was the lining, especially the hood area. I found it stained/marked very easily and was difficult to clean. Maybe I am just a grubby urchin!
-
• #4023
@French_Touch i think those would be suitable too, probably a notch down on the warmth from the Wakayama.
@kboy yes they seem good quality, have looked at various leather and wool backed leather ones over the years in hipster outfitters.have a couple of pairs of Modeva gloves from their shop in Florence,(you rest your arm on a velvet pouffe while they fit them for you!) lined and unlined but need something warmer for wandering around organic food markets and outdoor pop up craft fairs...

i was aiming directly for the pin...
Anyone recommend a nice navy bomber jacket brand? Alpha ones are a bit shiny. Looking for something padded for warmth still, more on the casual than smart end of the spectrum
