Is that a comet as well?
-
• #954
Alas no, it’s an internal reflection of Venus in the lens.

Nice moon shots - my afternoon shot yesterday was very poor quality, very noisy and with poor focus.

That’s cool. What zoom you using on that? Or just cropped mega tight?

Supermoon on 7-8 April.. not sure about timing, early evening when the moon rises. was spectacular last spring..
Looking forward to seeing photos with urban or town scape.. like a scene from batman

Cheers - it’s cropped a bit, but it’s taken at 400mm on a crop sensor Canon so not too much cropping needed - it’s basically just squared off.

Oh starting today? Looking like should be super clear the next few days cloud wise.

50 micro arc-second resolution from the Event Horizon Telescope:
https://astronomy.com/news/2020/04/event-horizon-telescope-peers-down-a-black-holes-jet
A giant gob of material ejected from a billion solar mass black hole 5 billion light years away imaged for the first time. This resolution is starting to pick out distinct features of these jets that should help understanding how they form and behave.

Full Moon Photo.
Had to really rush this though, as the clouds were advancing pretty fast. HOping for a clearer sky tonight.

Nice moon!
I see the potentially exciting comet may be beginning to break up.

I had intended to combine my daily exercise with taking a picture of the moon rising behind the 87 metre diameter wind turbine near Aylesbury but was distracted by neighbours handing us glasses of wine over the garden wall. So only caught this gloomy shot through the local foliage.

Which comet is that?
-

C/2019 Y4 (Atlas) - apparently itself probably a fragment of the great comet of 1844.

Thanks for the alert - I have mixed feelings about all these extra bits of space hardware but it’s impressive to see these strings going up.

Anyone see much? I saw some things moving roughly in the same direction but weren't very close together.
Think I saw an iridium flare though

just been out
are they supposed to be all together or spread out over a distance, saw 3 or 4 satellites passing close to the plough but widely spaced, the videos i've seen show them all like ducks in a row
