They look incredibly uncomfortable, so my guess is that's the reason.

There's no reason to be disappointed.

Oooof, very nice!

Any tips on breaking in? I have a pair of these that are more or less unworn because they absolutely shredded my feet. The collar around the opening rubbed, especially so against the base of my ankle joint.

I don't want to give up on them as I feel once they're broken in they'll be very comfortable.

Bend them a bit like this 10 times.
Then keep wearing them till your feet bleed. Have a break, then they'll be fine. -

Wear them around the house and when you’re sat about working from home etc and bend them as suggested above - wear them with a sock or a preemptive plaster? - alternatively wear them to the local pub and have a few pints - they’ll be grand after that…

Apply kinesiology tape to your skin and a couple of decent wears should see the shoe give and the foot adapt!

I always find that putting new shoes under the desk and just having your feet in them for a few hours a day is the best way to wear them in. You’ve described the main issue people have - you wear them, they hurt and leave blisters so you stop wearing them

I gave up buying new shoes, they always took multiple wears to bed in. Even doing the work and home not moving much thing. I started buying secondhand, now have enough good shoes that shouldn't need to buy another pair now, just repair when required.
That want much help was it?

Does not compute.

Bend ten times before each wearing. Most shoe issues are because the shoe isn’t moving with the natural movement of the foot as you walk, because the materials are too stiff.

buying secondhand
eBay or elsewhere? I'm not seeing much decent stuff on eBay at the moment (right now looking for a pair of C&J / Cheaney or similar with commando soles, to replace a pair of Meermin which have't worm well).

Have you looked on Vinted? Most clothes and shoes have moved over to there - to the point where eBay has made it free to list clothing.
Thanks all for the advice. Going to manipulate them each morning and wear them under my home desk and in the house for a week and see how it goes.

ah, no i haven't - will give this a go.
Thanks :)

Got to say I'm not a fan of Vinted from a buyer pov. The search filters aren't great unless you know exactly what you want and you struggle to get the same bargains.
That said you are right, a lot of stuff has moved. There is also another similar equivalent which I forget the name of that's good for jeans. May also be good for shoes if it rings any bells.

Wear a slightly thicker sock when breaking in at home.
I too often get that rub just below the ankle with cycling shoes also.
I wear a pair of woolly booly wool socks which seem to cushion well and don’t rub as much but the volume will stretch the shoe. -

Vestaire or market is also worth a look if Vinted isn’t your bag

https://www.depop.com/gb/ was what I was thinking of. Never actually bought anything from it tho.

I got these from Depop recently, seriously need to slow down with the Paraboot obsession. I’d kinda stopped using the site because the quality was a bit hit or miss - sellers are pretty loose with their interpretation of condition.

Sorry, retirement helps.
Check eBay too. There’s always loads on there. I’m guessing lots of people buy them then sell them after a ton of stick about wearing heels.
