  • Just made these for the summer. Maybe not the coolest proper leather shoes, but they are, well, cool.

  • Desert vibe!

How does the lace going behind your ankle feel?

  • As mentioned upthread, I have some more or less brand new oxblood Loakes. I bought them on here, and they very nearly fit but I have come to the conclusion that the toe area is just too narrow for my spade-like feet, and they will never give enough to be comfortable. Shame, cos I really like them.

I'd say they are good for a regular 9.5 UK, or a narrow foot 10.

I'll post pics etc in shortly, let me know if interested. Will let them go for bargain price of £50 collected (E17) or £55 posted.

  • Interested pending pics…

  • cool - i'm away this eve so will post pics tomorrow.

  • huh - that doesn't work

(tried to link to an earlier pic but I seem to have a problem with my photobucket account)

  • Ok for loafing around. I wouldn’t go hiking in them. A strap would be better, but they’re way better than flip flops.

  • Aw, thanks very much, man... Too much hassle tho', and probably too expensive... 😘

  • How friendly? My OH may kill me, as I've literally just had a new pair of boots arrive, but I've always wanted a pair of Indys...

  • I'm after some quality boots or shoes that would be ok for country walks and general day to day stuff. Always bought Timberland but I'm inspired by this thread to up my game.

  • Red Wing's and a suit is bold though...

  • Depends on what your budget is I guess, £150-200, William Lennon, I have a pair of their Tug of War boots, but opted for vibram commando soles rather than the leather ones.

  • Thanks I'll take a look.

  • How do redwings size up compared to other brands?

  • True to size in my experience. I wear a 10.5US and measure a 10.5US on a brannock.

  • I always go down a size

  • This is them

  • Wear on the soles is minimal, pic makes it look more worn than it is. I've worn them round the house and round the block a couple of times.

  • If you’re a uk 8 buy a uk 7 etc

  • Went boot shopping again today, tried some very nice Clarks Chelsea boots on, fit wasn't quite right, no Goodyear welt but they were reduced, good thing they didn't fit properly cuz I was very tempted...

Then I went to the R.M. Williams shop over the road, the boot I want is a special order, a Comfort Turnout with a leather sole... It's only gonna cost me $50 extra for the privilege so I think I'll do that in a couple of months when my tax rebate comes... Unless I can find some Loakes, bit scared of buying a pair online and them not fitting...

  • Thanks for the sizing advice everyone who replied.

  • redwings

I bought my chukas in the store off Carnaby and after trying a few pairs ended up with my ‘true’ size. However after wearing for a while I would’ve liked them a bit more snug so I’d also say drop a half size.

  • I'd say half a size down as well. 9.5s fit me nicely; I'm UK 10 in most shoes but 9.5 in some posh shoes made on wide lasts.

  • Tentative second dibs on your oxblood Loakes please.

  • @duncs - cleaned and slightly less shit photos

I'll wait till Monday and then open for @inchpincher
