Anyone on here interested, before I dispose of these Loake oxbloods by other means?
Fully leather lined.
Size 9 1/2 F. Style 771T
Burgundy Polished Leather
Goodyear Welted Double Leather SolesProper made in England jobs, but I just don't like them.
Tried them on, made a small crease on the vamp by leaning forward, have not even walked in them.https://www.loake.co.uk/771.html
£175 rrp, the only sites with them cheaper are either in black or not in this size, but on ebay there are resellers around £150.
Make me a fair offer and they're yours. I'll include special delivery in the cost.

Just got a pair of Loakes back from them after being resoled. They look fantastic. Better than new.

Debenhams are doing 50% and in some cases 70% off Loakes instore. Westfield had black brogues, and brown chelsea boot brogue pattern on sale (the latter were £70 odd).

Anyone got any experience/opinions on Hanwag's double stitched hiking boots? I'm in the market and they're competitively priced considering you can fully resole them. Looking at the Horndl mostly

Giro Republic LX soaked in clean water then dubbin'd whilst wet then slow dried and buffed up and finished with a fine lady's nylon stocking. Honest.

Dubbin is tough to get a mirror shine, apply a layer of neutral polish on top when they are totally dry and they'll buff real shiny. That's unless you have access to pure carnauba and a means of applying it (tough without a motorised polishing wheel).

I've got a pair of Grensons with a crepe sole. The crepe is in two layers at the front and they're starting to come apart right at the tip. They're not that old so I don't want to resole them yet. I figure I can do a basic running repair with glue. But I need to make it not show and actually stick. As you know crepe soles get dirty and stay dirty so the visibility is less of an issue (I just don't want great big white marks).
Can anyone recommend a glue to use? Standard rubber cement? Copydex (possibly not strong enough, just what I have in stock)?

Contact adhesive. You can buy the Bostik version that is basically shoe glue. Or go Timpsons/any cobbler, should cost you pennies for them to use the proper stuff.

I bought these Loake Hyde boots during the winter but decided I didn't like them - expensive mistake. size 10
If anyone wants to buy them let me know.

Can anyone recommend a good boat shoe? No for boating, just loafing about it

Maybe you want loafers then?
Sebago is the classic, Dubarry and Chatham are also good. Personally, I have some Timberland that have lasted well so far. I recently had them resoled and they're great again.

Slightly unfortunate name, but they are a good company, and they are having a summer sale.

Got a pair of Trickers x pediwear exclusive's from there a while back. Great shoes, great service and most importantly don't have pediwear written on them anywhere

Ok, but I might start another thread, to save spamming this one? Then others can chip in with their top tips!

Sorry to hear of your loss fella, shoes look great.

Too strange to lose someone that much younger (I assume) than you.
Sorry that you lost him. -

Thanks guys, yep, it's really shit. 29years old, two young sons and a partner, let alone his brother and my sister. Motorcycle accident. He was an advanced license holder too, but it counts for nothing if the person pulls out in front of you without warning. I'm used to dealing with the immediate aftermath (I'm a firefighter), but not the practicalities or personal grief.

Sorry, I don't want to kill the thread, so here are some nice grensons!... carry on!

@Aggi try to test a pair, cos I found Barker can be hit and miss on whether they cut your ankles to shreds. Happens on my high-polish oxfords, and also to a friend on a suede pair I gave him. Probably you'll be fine, just manipulate the topline/counter/back.
@hugo7 @coppiThat fair points.
Found the post 10 pages back, these bad boys. I don't think I've worn them more than once in the last 9 months since that photo. They have had maybe 7 days use in total. Bought in Germany in TK Maxx, worn a few days there and then once in London before buying a pair of Chapman&Moore because it was raining and I didn't want to ruin the leather on this pair.
