the model is called monkey boots. the most famous ones made as you see by dr. martens.
oki ni did a limited run of pony hair ones a couple of years ago. still kick myself not getting them, really digged them.

ahh you actually already knew that....
some other manufacturers make them with longer continuing laces:
as in here
and here too -

Grenson do a posh version that look like this...
http://www.grenson.com/uk/the-4-collection-vier-mens-monkey-boot-beige-nubuck.html
^these are the current model but they've done them for a while so there may be other colourways to choose from, possibly cheaper to!

thanks, but not quite right. the eyelets seemed to extend onto the toe cap itself rather than on whatever the side flaps are called
-
• #5306
Yeah, I recall both Trickers and Grenson did ones as you describe... can't find them in their current range though!

http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/branding02/item/s3956/native does neoprene ones, which are quite comfy actually and cheap as chips.

I have a pair of 45nrth Wölvhammer boots where the leather is coated in something.
I tried to remove some of the branding with rubbing alcohol, but that took off some of the coating.Any suggestions as to what that coating could be and how to recreate it?
It's some matte black rubbery stuff.... -

Anyone ID the boots the guy on left is wearing?
-
• #5314
Thanks. Just as expensive and pinging on the hipster-radar as I expected :)
Nice boot though. Maybe Santa will be kind. -

There's been some talk of shoe-stretching in recent posts. Could you throw me some recommendations for a reliable cobbler in central/ SE London who would do this?
I'm coming to the conclusion my Oxfords pinch too much for everyday wear and I'd like to rectify that if I can.

Dropped a pair of shoes in to be re-soled, needed a pair of winter boots so walked out in these:

This place is good

I've never had shoes stretched there but they've done a number of repairs perfectly, so I have no reason to imagine they'd mess that up

Grenson Fred?
Has anyone got the wolverine 1000 mile boot? I'm coveting them at the minute
-
• #5319
^ I really like the wolverine 1000 miles. I've got a pair of Rockford in black for sale, think they're a UK8. I got a good deal on them so happy to let them go for £120 + postage.
They're used, but very lightly, barely broke in I'd say

There was a particular wolverine boot that I wanted but it was not a line they sell in Europe so I just ordered a pair of red wing harvester boots in brown with a vibram sole.
-
• #5321
I love those....I want a pair in oxblood though...checking out the harvesters now
-
• #5322
Like the harvesters.... I like the double leather cap on the iron Rangers though.... If have to bull it up!!

Do they come up true to size? I'm a uk9 in nearly everything, so those would be too small?
-

They're very nice.....
i'm trying to find a pair of boots i saw someone wearing. they might have been fugly, need to check. tan leather, with eyelets that extended right down onto the top of the foot. see my mockup attached - compare the right and left boots
