Yeah I'm the same, wasn't quite sure. I think the price makes them very tempting. I've got some chelseas, but the sole is thin and they'll be cold on a proper winter's day.
I like those loake burford, but I think something slimmer with a suit might work better. I think I might give the meermin's a pop.

I have some Loake 209 http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?brandid=7&shoeid=6664 which fit the criteria above but I'm not sure how wintery you're thinking. They'd probably need a fair bit of polishing if it's for shitty weather

Anyone who wants Chelsea boots and buys anything other than RM Williams needs their head examined.

I like loakes, a lot of their ranges are non-uk made, but nice shoes nonetheless. but if you're a Northampton purist then only their top line is from uk cobblers. pays yer money, etc..

I have those exact ones, really happy with them, very hardwearing and wore them last winter without getting wet feet. So all good!

Aye, made in India. I've got 3 other pairs which are made in Northampton, so I'm not going to feel too guilty about a pair for work being made in India. They look pretty nice and a solid recommendation from TPR. Those loakes and the meermins would be a formidable winter roster IMO.

formidable?

That's sad to hear. I have a few pairs of their Northampton-made boots. Excellent quality.

I had a look, and stand corrected, so to defend Loake, these ranges are made in England:
Loake 1880
Loake Shoemakers
Design Loakethese ranges are made in India:
Loake L1

A commando sole is far better in the winter, or the Loake Victory sole as on the Bedales.

Not for city wear with a suit and wearing to court...

evening all.
was wondering, does anyone know where I could get my hands on a pair of Mckinley Comfort Sole's.
Can only find a japanese shop..
Cheers.
Years since I had a pair of Chelsea Boots. But I do always like the cleanness of them.
