Never had to break a good pair of shoes in.
no, that's what your manservant is for, what..

They're new so no polish yet. No shoe-trees, maybe I'll give them a try.
The plan was to wear them round the office, I forgot I had them on and wore them home. I guess I'll bring them back in and try again.

• #4505
Just keep them on at the desk but take them off at home time! :)

Tricker's Keswick or Bourton with a kiltie?

I funded the fiancée's valentinos so maybe I should splash out. Or thinking about it, maybe even more reason to keep my costs as reasonable as possible.
-

All the more reason to splash out. Buy something you really like, you'll only do it once for this reason.
Hopefully.

I funded the fiancée's Sky fall shoes.
Not on purpose, that marketing wouldn't sway him but they are sexy!

Those crockett and jones are very nice indeed.
I reckon I'll just get the Loakes tbh. Hers are over £600 and I'd rather have another couple of hundred for luxuries on the honeymoon than go a step up in my shoes.

you sir, are in the wrong thread...
-
• #4512
Those Loakes are a perfectly good pair of shoes - probably outlast the Valentinos. No point spending too much.
looks down at Common Projects trainers. Gulps

I was looking at the same trainers until a mate roundly slated them (price wise) so I have put them on the back burner.

got some lovely uk43/9 (true to size imho) diemme suede boots, hand made in italy with vibram soles so nice i have 2 pairs but that is a bit silly so this set should go to a new home. Had use, but lots of life left and vibram can be easily resoled now which is nice - these should last forever, plenty of pics on the link here..

I rarely look at the forum these days, but I had an experience with Red Wing this weekend that was worth posting. About four or five months ago I took my nine year old moc toes in to the store to have the worn out white sole replaced with a lug sole. They did a nice job, £70, all good...
Then a couple of weeks ago, I noticed the sole had started to come away from the mid-sole at the front, just a tiny bit. I took them in, expecting them just to re-glue the sole, but they sent them away and they came back on Saturday - completely new hand-stitched welt, completely new mid-sole, completely new sole, all free of charge. So they'd effectively rebuilt the sole, which should have been £110 at no cost to me, when they could've got away with a bit of glue. I oiled the leather when I got home and they're good to go for another nine years.

Nice story... I hope mine don't go, wore them loads over the winter and they still seem fine... Miss you, Markyboy! x

Soles on my redwings are well and truly fubar'ed. Anyone know anywhere in London that I can have the resoled, preferably with vibram soles....

:) And that's why it's worth spending the cash on them - Good to hear stories of service like that.

These are nice and not pricey - if they were an 11 I'd have them off you

Great choice, go to their store on Newburgh Street... Much cheaper if you can get them in the US...

^Tried, liked, ordered. Woop! Found £75 off RRP in the UK.
The black ones are currently £119 at rubbersole and spartoo, which is eversocheap.

That's so tempting but I can't really justify a third pair of Redwings!!
I bring them into the office with shoe trees and just wear them when I'm sat at my desk for a week or two. I don't wear them to walk in any further than up or down a flight of stairs.
This is the best technique, I've not had a pair of shoes hurt since doing this.
