  • yes, but the idea of them was weather protection. More to stop your socks getting wet I suppose.

  • clear carrier bags?

  • stilts?

  • Extreme Sportsday!
    Ultimate Sackrace!

  • Currently wearing rubber soled Chelsea boots. Slightly chunkier boot than I would like maybe, but nice and dry. Work well with a slim suit.

    What Chelsea boots?

I'm looking for a pair of Chelsea boots with a chunkier rubber soul for winter stomping. Akin to DMs, Redbacks, Blundstone etc. Unfortunately, I have narrow feet so they are all a bit wide. Any ideas?

  • Loake Chelsea boots are nice and slim, and you could get a little rubber sole put on the bottom

  • you should rm williams. sanders & loake also make nice classic chelsea boots.

i dont think george boots get enough love.

    rm williams

    sanders

    loake

  • Loake do the Blenheim with a dainite sole: http://www.loake.co.uk/loake-shoemakers/boot/blenheim.html

  • dont be put off by the colours. other galoshes are available for less than swims.
swims cost more because they are made a better , have good advertising and they also had a collaboration with john lobb which elavated their status slightly.

I have them. Quite useful. What is that old saying "either the sun shines or the face of the shoemaker"...

Just cheaper pairs (around £100) I've had for ages. Do the job though.

  • Thanks all. Those are some lovely choices. I have a pair of Loakes that fulfill the smarter end of the shoe spectrum. I think I need something a little more chunky.

Wish DMs did a narrow fitting.

  • Any opinions on these I thought it was time to slowly get into shoes from a previously trainer only life. I mostly wear high tops due to shitty ankles. Am I buying the wrong thing? I abuse my shoes.

  • Is that a Christy sole?
Caution in the wet and especially on ice, from internetz reports.

  • just bought my second pair of trickers...you know to keep the first pair fresh...

  • Is that a Dainite (Ridgeway, Medway)?

  • Or Commando?

  • looks like commando. lovely shoes

  • commando bourton without the broguing...theres quite a good sale on them at superdenim 40% offish

  • Cool.
I'm heading to Victoria in February, will drop in at the Viberg factory for a look see.
What do people here think about their service boot?

  • Desert Boots - A decent pair for less than £70. Are Clarks the best to go for at my budget?

  • My black suede desert boots look fantastic after two years use, on rotation. They get two days wear a week on average.

After a quick brush down before I leave the house, the suede looks great. They get soaked regularly on my bike, with some newspaper stuff inside they dry well, after a brush down they look good as new. I do not witness the hard-to-maintain suede people talk of.

There are a few examples of successful resoling of desert boots out there on the web. Crepe soles seem to last for quite a while but it's reassuring to see that the uppers can be resoled too.
