  • about the only branded clothing my father has ever worn were Gucci loafers (the discrete not gauche ones), Viyella shirts and Barbour jackets

but he is a man of country pursuits so most of his shopping is done at country gentlemans outfitters - Kevins menswear in Westbury being a favourite or stalls at point to points and country fairs

  • markyboy,johnny simons are/have opened a new shop http://www.johnsimons.co.uk/

Thanks for your interest in the new John Simons shop and website. I have spent the last few months working on a new range that will both recall the history of the shop and amplify its future. US button-down shirts have been reinvented in a new and exciting way that recalls the early modernist connections. Pop over, back button, locker loop can all be seen in the new range - all part of its vocabulary. 1950s pants with a rise too high to be legal... recreated ivy jackets - the hook vent never very far from the centre!
These are just a few of our current lines in production and your feedback is always very much appreciated in this connection. Our email address is info@johnsimons.co.uk

You can also write to <editor@johnsimons.co.uk> with your stories, photos, thoughts and questions - the best of which we will publish on our website.
Finally thanks for your never failing interest since '55 - it's just whizzed by. Look forward to seeing you at the new store very soon.

  • sort that john simons website out

  • I am well going there.

  • Loafers are shit

  • can someone recommend me a good cobbler who doesn't charge the earth?

  • the dude on the new kings rd is pretty good.

  • fifth avenue too expensive?

i've gone cheaper twice with my boots, both were money down the toilet, one even paying for ruining them. I haven't seen Fifth Avenues work yet, but if it's as good as people say it will be worth it. buy cheap buy twice and all that

  • Thanks reculver. Yep, saw there was a new J Simons opening up, need to go take a peek.

SP - if you're serious, do go, Johnny is a top bloke who has been selling this stuff for decades and really helpful. He was, allegedly, the person who called the Baracuta G9 the "Harrington" after the character in Peyton Place who wore one. All subsequent imitations are shit, btw.

  • That's just around the corner from my work....

  • Lust!

    Loafers are shit
