So Tucker fucking Carlson is currently touring Oz, and hilariously bombing with mostly empty venues in every town. Story on Crikey for the lols, and one commenter is unfamiliar with the dude, and notes that he looks like the personification of News Corp.
Good call, I think to myself, that's actually more than halfway true. Reminded me of this, had to post it...
You should see the vid of Jon Stewart going on Carlson’s old show, and tearing him to strips, and then chewing the strips into shreds, and then dancing mightily upon the shreds, while Carlson’s audience delightedly marvel and laugh.

Not loving their new floating ads now, after you've skipped the full screen ads. Cant remove, stays there for 30 seconds.
Plus I don't want to play Netball.

You could always pay for the content you watch?
-
• #782
Viewing Google's ads IS paying for the content being watched.

One of YouTube's biggest stars, David Dobrik, said in an interview that he earned about $2,000 a month from YouTube directly, despite his weekly videos gaining an average 10 million views.
https://www.businessinsider.com/how-much-youtube-pays-for-views-100-thousand-million-150-2020-1?op=1I'm not going to be feeling sorry for Youtube any time soon.

As above, the two previous adverts were my payment to watch the video.
A third, floating non removable advert seems like taking the piss.
£12.99 to remove ads does not seem like good value to me given the low amount of videos I watch. Maybe different if that actually went to the creators.

If they only did this I think it would be better, but obviously the video will eventually be covered with banners or something.

That link is behind a paywall ;)
I was under the impression that creators get more money from a premium subscriber watch than from ads. The portion of your subscription fees that goes to creators is split proportionally between the videos you actually watch, so at least I feel like it is more directly supporting those creators.
Previously I had been using ad-blocker and using Patreon for a few people but that just got way to laborious to keep track of. -

At his peak he'd have earned a lot more than that

It wasn't for me.
Maybe you need to pay for the content you read? :P

So just watch YouTube through Brave, a privacy-focused Chrome fork which natively blocks ads. You just need to disable the YouTube app if on a mobile device.

That is beyond fucking mad. Had to skip through most of it to get to the good bits, but oh my god!

He's only getting started with the concept too. He probably will buy seven jet engines for the next one; dude thrashed a Ferrari though a wheat field until it caught fire and burnt to the ground for shits and giggles.
The humour (basically pretending to be a stupid arsehole) is definitely a bit repetitively one-note, but on the other hand some of it is gold. Also leaves me clueless as to his actual degree of stupid arseholery, which is something of a hook, I guess

Ah it’s the Ferrari guy. I remember that.
