The Rapha Festive 500

I want to get a training ride in today but there is a very thin layer of ice everywhere... The winter weather is already making things difficult

If anyone wants to do something different and indoor... I did it last year and it was less gruesome than the Festive 500... probably just as many calories burned, but less time in the saddle

Yep. Stay safe! I slipped on ice when walking with my kids the other day. I'm now waiting a call from the hospital to arrange surgery on my ankle

So it's not just cycling that's dangerous in this weather.

I've just returned from Regent's Park where I spent more time drinking coffee than riding. There were very few riders about this morning despite the conditions being surprisingly good. Am now set up for my "Not The Festive 500" as I'll do the distance but can't be arsed to enter the official thing.

I ended up doing 32km, at least got my legs moving a bit. It was cold but at least enough roads without ice

Oh damn, here we go again.

The weather looks like wall to wall rain for the next 10 days on the south coast. I’ve got 140 miles to do to have a daily average of 48 miles for the year. I might just do that and sack it off at that point.

Over 17k miles for the year? Very impressive.

Yeah, 17,520 is the target, currently on 17,380. I’m not sure who I’m trying to kid, if I start it, I’ll have to finish it.

Got some miles on the board this morning, reckon quite a few people doing it too as saw a lot more riders out for the time I went than I normally would, bit windy but quite a nice morning for it

Started day 1 already with a hangover, but at least the weather is great today.

115kms done this morning, no rain and light winds, should have done more really, but family etc. going to try and get it done in 5 days.

50m loop to Artefood in Windsor.
Damp to wet last 6 miles home.

135km in, weather helped today.
