500km this year will be a lot easier than last year, barely even had frost/snow yet..
Least not in Yorkshire

I've read the website twice, and still don't get it. So they sort of want to know the stats, but they're not fussed really. And you can post stuff on twitter or their FB page ... or strava. For all that the TfL challenge was ultimately a bit rubbish, I quite liked that it was structured, boring (oh - and completely unverified).
Unless I can post a picture of me cycling in v expensive kit and 6 inches of snow in New England, or bung in a 'seeing my life flash before me on [insert name of locally important hill]' story I suspect it won't really count. Might give it a go anyway.

I'm mostly doing it for myself, not for Rapha or prizes, it just acts as bit of an incentive and encouragement to do some pedalling over the next week.

I have been contemplating it, will start with spybots Christmas Cracker, thinking of riding out and possibly back too, that would take off 100 miles.

Ah, I thought that unless you uploaded proof to Strava then you need not apply.
Heroic suffering (pics+500 words) are an extra if you want a hat.

Ah, maybe you do - as I said, I really didn't understand. Stats I can do (tho' maybe not 500kms' worth), heroic stories based on some pootling round Derbyshire lanes in the drizzle - not so sure. I would quite like a hat.

Yeah the jacket that got them a cease and desist from LLBean for IP infringement?

I might do 500........... meters.

It's 35 miles per day, if you get out on the bike each and every day- which of course may be impossible.
I'll have a crack at it.

hi johnny.. i'm presuming you're LSF johnny?
I'd be up for doing a bit with you if you're leeds way over xmas.. would have to be steady pace for my fat old frame.
I'm mostly doing it for myself, not for Rapha or prizes, it just acts as bit of an incentive and encouragement to do some pedalling over the next week.

Yeah I'll be having a stab at this as I'm in Wales with the bike over xmas .. don't have garmin or strava though. Just an incentive to ride I guess, not really fussed about the wooden badge thing

The only bit I'll be doing in Yorkshire is on the last day, the 31st as I'm at work at the moment. Hopefully the weather will be decent as there's a few people up for a ride that day. The more the merrier!
I'll add you to the group we've got going for such things.....

I was doing some sort of crackhead maths and thought it was only 7 days. 9 days with 35 miles a day seems much more manageable.

Might have a bash at this - more for motivation than the glory.
I don't have a Garmin etc.
Are there any app for a smartphone (got HTC Desire) that will let me track/map/record etc?
Cheers

The Strava app is pretty good http://app.strava.com/iphone

Strava works with Android too despite that link saying iPhone! It is good.
So....
Is anyone doing it this year?
