I'm down. Was going to be doing turbo work, but some L2 work is welcome.
Only 310 miles. -
• #153
Looking forward to this, I want my patch this time though.
-
• #154
Do you actually get a real life patch?
Amazing. -
• #155
A lot of us didn't get patches last year :(
-
• #156
Sooo annoyed i'm not able to do this! no riding over the xmas period for me! =(
-
• #157
That's what like, two quick centuries, a trip to cambridge, a trip to Brighton and a few trips to the pub across town? Sounds like fun.

• #158
I got the patch

am wondering if i can do 500km with a trailer behind my bike with my dad's dog inside. i have a feeling Harry's willingness to participate will be a deciding factor
-
• #160
If you do that'll win the best prize for sure!
-
• #161
i think it may involve some fairly dull flat rides to make up the miles
but am wondering if i could get up ditchling with the dog - just not sure if he will be comfortable doing long trips in the trailer
he is coming up for a visit next week when i hope to introduce him to his new carriage
-
• #162
Strap him to the trailer so he can't jump out. The more he suffers the more Rapha will appreciate it.

I'm probably have a go. Going to be in a relatively flat part of the world so should be doable even on the heavy winter fixed I plan on taking with me. Just as long as the weather isn't too shitty
-
• #164
Weather is the only thing holding me up too. 37.5 miles is easily doable for those 8 days.
May even take an ale and mince pie with me on Christmas day.
-
• #165
I'll be giving it a go. I'm trying to ride at least 40 hours during December and I'm quite a long way off my mileage target for this year so the Festive 500 should help.
-
• #166
So is this by yourself or can it be in groups? Think I maybe dragged in to this...oh well help me stop being a fat bastard.
-
• #167
Doesn't matter as long as you get in the miles and those miles are black and white and EPIC!
-
• #168
I'm going to take my espresso machine back to my parents in order to make my ante and post ride more "on message".

??? Is this an diy audax.
-
• #170
this isnt an audax in any way, shape or form.

In the sense of getting the proof, such a receipts along the way or is GPS enough?

This is a Strava challenge, so you need a Strava account and the Strava app on your phone, hombre. Receipts?! Paf. This is serious cycling bizness.

I get to do this in Cornwall.
Uphill, all the way.

Last year I did this (mainly) around Winchester, each evening I'd pick a ~50 mile route from Garmin Connect and stick it into my Garmin 705, then go and ride it the next morning.
I fell off on some black ice, was almost hit by a dead grouse, and found my current favourite ride in the UK, which I now try to do every time I go back to my parents.

how are you almost hit by a dead grouse? did it rise from the dead zombie style and try and take you, or had it just been shot out of the sky and was in a death fall towards you? sorry it just conjoured up a funny image.
Anyone giving this year a go?
I'm thinking about it, did you spread it over the 7 days or have some days much higher than others?
