  • just received this invitation

    anyone interested in this?

    Al

  • yeah, a friend up here just facebooked it.
don't have a garmin or any such technological item, so I'm not sure how I'd prove it.

  • Why not ride everyday of the Christmas week and move into the New Year fit and refueled? As Rapha's superhuman Graeme Raeburn demonstrated last year, clocking miles over the festive break is possible. He rode over 1000km in a week

  • Stick the garmin in the car and drive around for a bit.

  • 1000k in a week. Slack cunt should've been helping in the kitchen. Riding is easy.. cooking and entertaining visiting relatives is way fucking harder.

    Rapha.. HTFU.

  • ^ lol.. well said hippy..

500km = 116 laps of regents park outer circle = 51 laps of richmond park.. in 8 days - pfft.

  • that is quite a good one.

that is about what i aim to do - most of it up north. weather permitting.

but i am not sufficiently tecky to record or document it.

  • @sopeRiver, I reckon they'll have plenty of takers for this. don't think they'll really check your evidence.

  • that is quite a good one.

    Where in the North?

    Rapha.. HTFU.
    The divine truth.

  • Woven badge ?
    Get ta fock !!

  • Rapha = A new kind of Audax

  • 'Fuck going out in the cold to get new publicity material, we can get fat and stay warm if we send those mug customers out to do it for us............ I know why don't we offer some shitty token gesture badge for the effort!'
Rapha exec. relaxes, feet on desk. Happy in the knowledge that his weeks work is done.

New Xmas gift this season: the Rapha beard trimmer.

"To keep your facial shield at the correct post-hipster length, Rapha have created a new beard trimmer with ceramic blades to ensure the ultimate in low friction personal grooming. The shaft is formed from the stiffest weave of carbon fibre, which, coupled with a high capacity rechargeable cell, means you can touch up your jawline at the peak of any climb without carrying unnecessary weight.

Rapha's new jerseys will have their pump pockets complemented by a trimmer pocket, designed to snugly embrace the must have gadget in its panda leather pouch with ivory press-stud. Opening the flap reveals a unique and motivating label, bearing the details of Simon Mottram's bank balance at the point of manufacture."

I want to order this, do you know when they will be putting it up on their website?

  • When they can get enough forumengers to pledge a thousand magic beans each for it to go into production.

The pandas start to shuffle slowly to higher ground...

    Rapha.. HTFU.

ha ha, yes Hippy, that's why it's better to be out on the bike... Are the Grupetto heading out over xmas, if so, maybe I could come and join you? I'm up for Flanders so would be good to ride with you.

and Rapha HTFU? didn't you get your arse kicked at the gent's tt this summer? ;-) not my fault, it was just going that way.

    ^ lol.. well said hippy..

500km = 116 laps of regents park outer circle = 51 laps of richmond park.. in 8 days - pfft.

How about alternating parks in between laps to spice thing up and break up the boredom?

    yep.

The pandas start to shuffle slowly to higher ground...

I thought you had the higher ground covered Lucifer? And am I right in thinking you're onboard for PBP?

Weather permitting, I think this is a good thing to aim for; a nice enough distance to keep things ticking over, and a good way to start the new year with ok legs and not feeling the seasonal excess - only the phantom sting of embrocation.

You can go stupid on the food without consequence, 'sort of' have to take it easy on the booze, fit some distance in by riding to the social events, and exorcise all the daft tension that leads to the inevitable falling out with loved ones.

The downside is if the weather gets in the way (then it gets crap in Jan/Feb so you get set back again), freezing waterbottles, and maintaining/cleaning the bike can be a real nightmare.

    Anyone up for it?

  • Considering you lot work for a cycling company and our team was 50% fat boozing or overworked IT staff I'd hardly call it an arse kicking.

Now where was I? That's right.. get back in the kitchen and deal with Uncle Bob or gtfo ;)

  • fair call - although to be honest, those adjectives could have also applied to our team.

  • Ha.. you're all whippets. No dice.

Shadow my eating and drinking during xmas and I'm pretty sure you lot would need to go to hospital. :P

Looks like the 24 is on the cards this year.
Anyone for 20 lap sessions of Richmond Park on a TT bike on xmas day? :)

  • Ha.. I'm Mr Whippy. Ice cream FTW.

    .

  • Any news on those beard trimmers?

Brilliant news Hippy, it's a real hoot. Unfortunately I have a good mate's wedding at the time of the Mersey Roads 24, so can only do the southern one - which one were you thinking of?

I'm more of a Great Dane, so have been known to put away a fair amount of tucker and fizzy pop. I'm not going to pick up your gauntlet though.

    • oh dear EEI. Did you not get the email invite yet?
  • Email? I got personalised letters written on the margins of an old french newspaper scented with Rapha Winter Embrocation.
