Not very - that's been established for a good few years now.

It's nice to see the usual casually sexist pricks are out in force derailing this thread. Good work lads!

hartxander, yeah thats the one!!!
Both were probably more in shock than anything and didn't really react as they probably normally would. Fuller version hints at what each were thinking, little bit more banter at each other than that version. But yeah, guess it happens quite a bit! Riding wrong way down a street is never good though.

I hope that your ribs, and everything else, are intact, hartxander.

Xander, sorry to hear this!
Heal up quick. -

Shit news dude. Hope the ribs aren't cracked.
The more I hear about the Met the less I like them I'm afraid.
If it was her fault, shouldn't she pay for your wheel? Or am I being a bit harsh? Did you get her details?

That guy in the video who gets hit is amazing by the way, he's up in seconds like nothing happened. HTFU in action!

It was totally her fault but she definitely came off much worse than me so it just didnt seem like the right thing to do to ask her to fix my wheel.

sorry to go off topic, but am i missing something here? the courier is riding down a one way street, he then hits a guy, who quite rightly has only looked the way of oncoming traffic before crossing the road and, in the full version, he has the cheek to call the guy out for not looking where he was going!?
as cyclists, we always complain when a driver hits us, especially if they were driving dangerously; why is it different when a cyclist hits a ped? we're likely to cause more damage to them after all. just sayin like...EDIT, not meaning to be a twat btw mate, just don't think that vid shows cyclists in a very good light. heal up soon!

Jaywalking, it's illegal there.
-
• #40
so what? rlj'ing is illegal here but when cyclists do it they justify it by using the old 'we wouldn't do as much damage as a car so it's ok'. well peds don't do as much damage as bikes, do they?
-
• #41
unless you hit them of course...;)

I think its the fact that coppers take j walking in the states very seriously, even more so than cyclists rljing

It's true. I was in SF once, and decided to just cross the street mid-block. I just got to the other side just as a police car was going by, I could see the officer inside. But I kept walking like I didn't see him. He then ran his siren and told me to stop. As he climbed out of the car. He started having a go at me, something like 'Do you know what you just did?'. I replied 'No'. Straight after hearing my voice he backed down a little, and says you are from out of town aren't you. To which I replied yes I'm British.
He went on to explain what 'Jaywalking' is, I already knew, but wasn't thinking when I crossed, so I played dumb. He said that I should only cross at intersections and crosswalks. Also it's a citation offence meaning he could fine me $50 on the spot, but in this case he was not going to bother writing it up. He wished me a good stay in SF, hopped back in his car and drove off.
Over my many visits to the States I have seen other people get told off or tickets for it. In NYC especially. I guess with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_turn_on_red in the US it makes sense to enforce 'Jaywalking'.

Fair enough, the gentlemanly thing to do, she'll hopefully have learnt not to walk out in front of traffic. Does seem you got a grilling from the 5-0 though given the circumstances.

Po Po all over my ass, they asked me if I was going to the student protests and If i had fireworks or illegal weapons in my bag!
I instantly warned that that i had an entire bike tool kit in there including a dangerous looking pedal spanner!
Im feeling alot more achey today than I was yesterday and the bruises are starting to come through, nothing that friday drinks wont cure! -

It stinks when the finger of suspicion is pointed at you, just because you fit a 'typical' group who are 'bound' to be a threat to something or other, possibly, at all times, maybe. Pisses me right off. You need help and support from the authorities, not their unceasing beady eye of blame. It makes me so angry.
Glad you're not seriously hurt.

isnt profiling against the law? and werent the protests on tuesday? good to see our thin blue line getting thicker by the day.
get well soon, chuckles

I think I have mentioned it before, but it amazes me the amount of pedestrians that will teeter on the edge of the pavement waiting for the taxi's, buses etc then as soon as the cyclist follows up they literally step out into the road - this happens all the time arround King's Cross/St Pancras. At that point they're fair game...drop your shoulder and plow.

To be fair do not blame the Police, blame the people that are causing the trouble that leads to their suspicion...and unfortunately hartxander fits the demographic at this particular moment.
glad you're not too badly injured, sir
heal up soon.
