  • OK, I’ll post examples of what I’ve bought plus links to their instagram pages or web sites.

Please mention me if you do reach out to any of them.

I’m dead picky, so any work I’m posting is an example of not just “a” work I like but someone whose practice I admire, respect and covet.

I’m off out but I’ll try to sort this later today.

  • London based Russell Herron’s work is fab. It’s mainly drawing and at the moment he’s working on an extended series of drawn portraits of cardboard faces.

    Here is his instagram

Quite a few of the artists I'm going to post effectively have waiting lists, so if you like someone's work I'd suggest messaging them.

  • Susie Olzcak is a recent RCA graduate, I think she’s offering works through the artist pledge, I have this one waiting to be framed.

  • Butternut Collage I’ve not met, but he’s an artist based in Brighton who makes a collage every day.

  • Mimei Thompson is one of my favorite painters plus she’s an all round excellent person.

I’ve wanted one of her pieces for a long time and was super chuffed to get this one through the pledge.

  • I’ll post up some more recommendations tomorrow (and probably the day after too).

On the grounds that any good artist has to have at least a modicum of self promotion, here’s one from my One Day series of prints that I offered through the pledge plus my insta.

Apologies on the recent insta posts as the last two months haven’t been very arty while I’ve been dealing with the death of my mum.

I will be back to making work soon… (I hope!)

    More to come!

  • Stephen Fleming is a Roswell NM based painter working on a fab series called “Paintings for Motels”.

I don’t think he is doing the artist support pledge, but is well worth checking out. I don't yet have any of his works.

  • Sophy Rickett a well respected photographic artist...

Edit Sophy asked that I post this link...

  • Dublin based Alan Magee is well worth checking out (and used to be a forumenger). I have one of his 3D works in storage but sadly I don’t have any images of it. I don’t know if he’s doing the support pledge.

    Instagram

  • London based Gary Colclough is well worth checking out. I don’t yet have any of his works, but I know that he has released a few as part of the pledge.

  • A lot of really great stuff thanks Ben

That piece by Mimei Thompson reminds me of the marble caves in Chile, feels like there’s a lot to look at in it if that makes sense? Also the Broughton & Birnie is fun - dark but fun. The collage is also very fun.

To add something (not an artist pledge piece though)- I was over in Ireland with my sister a couple years ago cycling the greenway. We were killing time in Westport waiting for my cousin to give us a lift to the airport when I saw this and loved it. It’s called ‘Bog bodies’. We’d been out on Achill and there was a bog fire the previous evening. Wrapped it up and brought home as hand luggage.

  • Good piece!

  • Some more recommendations...

Julie Cockburn is a very well known artist who modifies vintage photographs. Mainly she embroiders directly onto the image, but sometimes she adds other items as in this one I have.

Definitely an artist with a waiting list, she did offer some works via the pledge, but I'm not sure whether she still is or not.

    Here's her instagram

  • Kate Boucher uses charcoal (and probably pastels) for wonderful landscapes.

When her work arrived, there was a little off cut with a note on the back, used as a thank you card. I like her work so much, I even had the off cut framed...

  • Lothar Götz is an awesome artist (and lovely person).

He’s outside my usual price range, and I’m very pleased to have this piece.

I don’t think he’s doing the pledge at all, but well worth checking out.

  • The 2D piece of mine I posted is a relatively new path, this piece shown at RMAC in Roswell is more my usual thing (glass, danger, fragility etc).

More recommendations to follow later or tomorrow.

  • It's an extraordinary piece. Hard to see properly because of crowds. If anyone is ever going to see it, I'd recommend being there early and going straight there and then seeing the rest of the museum.

    I didn't do that and I wish I had.

  • Smug post, but not being up on my art, I accidentally stumbled upon seeing this.

Had a day to myself in Madrid and ended up at that museum, not really knowing what it held. I turned a corner and there it was. Didn't realise it was so massive. It was a midweek morning barely anyone in there except a class of school kids sitting on the floor getting an explanation which was great for me.
