  • I live a little outside Oslo 350m up so its a bit colder and drier here than down in the city. Its perfect for cross/snowbiking on my pomp as long as the snow isn't too fresh and I ignore the stares from the natives on their langrennski…a fat bike would make things that bit more fun though! I'll check their facebook out, it'd be nice to give one a go before I buy.

  • I love Norway so much...
Will be there agin in just under 3 weeks, WIN.

  • Just googled Aalesund, always wanted to visit the west coast and thats just decided it! Do you get much surf there?

Ripper are you visiting the city or otherwise?

  • Not really, it's a snowboarding trip so we just fly in to Oslo then drive off to Trysil.

  • Sweet, hopefully the weather gods smile on you!

  • So much fun.

Its half melted now, and refrozen into lumpy hell.

  • ^ You're going to end up wanting two leftys.

  • ^ You're going to end up wanting two leftys.

    Has crossed my mind.

Still if I re- weight weenie the 29er. It'll be a better contrast.

  • weight weenie.

    :-)

  • liking the lefty

  • Love the modified trailer;

  • Ed thats not modified. Its a combo trailer.

    Two wheeled bike trailer.
    Three wheeled pram.
    Ski based 'pulk'.

Nearly bought one myself, but they are poorly designed for ski use really. A touch high, a touch wide, and unsulated.

  • Next slowfurry project?

  • Got one. A wooden laminate one, with canvas cover, and bamboo arms, from 1950.

  • Picked up my Ice Spiker Pro this morning. Going to put it on the rear of the fat front mongrel tonight.

I've also ordered some more gripstuds to stud an extra row in the front tyre. Just 25 more.

So my winter 2013 set-up will be 26x4.8" front with shallow tread, and 125 studs, 29x2.25" rear with aggresive tread and 402 studs. :)

  • I rather like this

  • if I put my bike in snow and snap a shot of it, clearly unridden in the snow, does it count as a snowbike?

  • snow+bike, yep!

  • Those ice spiker pros give loads of rear traction. I can still slide the rear end out on winter trails though. Cant wait to be full fat.

  • I rather like this

Nice ultra-fatty, what brand is it?

  • Looks like an OG Surly Pugsly.

  • Things have moved on since then. The Pugs had 65mm wide rims, and 3.7" tyres.

Now its all about 100m rims, and 4.8" knobblys (see moonlander pic).

There's also a fair few homegrown mods knocking around (see modified turner pic).

  • Santa, come christmas 2013 I'd like a moonlander and lots of snow

    thanks Smallfurry :)

  • Plenty of options out there. Check out 'Charlie the bikemongers' site. The moonlander is a great bike though. The 135mm rear spacing means it'll run any number of hub options.

Mine is what I thought was a fat standard 170mm.

Now people are talking about 186mm rear spacing.

Its a nuts niche at the moment.
