I have some wheels and probably other stuff if people want.a little off topic but am thinking of building up my old Trek 7.5 Fx hyrbrid into a polo bike as it's light but fairly sturdy but also a WSD frame which I'm thinking will be preferable with sloping top tube rather than crashing straight onto a blokes top tube?
Thoughts?

I have a sloping TT because I use a dirt jump bike. I think it's awesome.
I would say as a rule, play a few game of polo first, check out some bikes and then you'll know what you like and what's good for a polo bike.
But yeah, if that's what you've got, then cool.I should have enough bikes for Saturday so don't rush.

I think Han is working on her!
But she won't come though...

It's looking likely that I could come for a couple of hours. Can bring spare mallets and balls, the only problem is I have spds on my bike so while I don't mind people using it, do people want to? Unless someone can be bothered to chance pedals, in which case it'd be fine. Will give a definite answer tomorrow evening.

I'm really interested in starting bike polo. Unfortunately i can't make it along this weekend, but hopefully can make your next game.
I don't have a bike, as i'd like to give it a go first, and then i think i'll build one up.
I also live in West, so thought about going along to that session, but i'm a total n00b, so think it's probably best to come to this first.
Might go along to Wests and spectate next week though! -

Hey,
You should definitely go along to Wests, there are a few women there also and mostly beginners so you'd be in good company.
Don't worry about bikes at this stage, most people are happy to lend theirs.
Apparently it's the best court in London so go check it out! -

Nice one P. Let me know so I can bring on less bike. More equipment would be handy.
Be good to see you on the court again! -

^ So I can once again embarrass myself... oh god, me and polo. A certain person name I believe Barry asked me to pick up the brake caliper from you on Sat if I go, that ok?
-
• #92
Yep all good, it's in my bag.
And there's no embarrassment at polo, especially at lady polo.Right, I currently have 5 polo bikes to bring, so if those thinking of coming with theirs, can you let me know asap else I'll rustle up another one. Spare balls and mallets will be handy as well.
Oh, and it's looking like 16 degrees tomorrow. Woop!
PM me if you want my number.

Defo coming, need to get a whole term worth of stress out of my system. So I have bike, 2 balls and 3 mallets, shall I bring all 3 mallets? I have never strapped 3 mallets on my bike before, so not sure if it's possible. J, have you got some flat pedals? Just think if people are to use my bike, they are more likely to want to go for flat.
And I think I am alright with knee guards, managed to reserve some last year knock off model from Evans that I will pick up on my way to Newt tomorrow.

Cool. I'll bring pedals and I'm ok for mallets. Text me if you want knee pads matey.
Nice one! -

It's today!!! I'm excited! :-)

Anyone who lives vaguely west - dont forget every Wed for the next 8 weeks, there are beginners sessions at Westway Sports Centre from 5pm to 10pm, mallets and balls provided, and there are two loaner bikes, so you can come along and not worry about your bike getting smashed up.
-
• #97
Good luck today Lola, hope that mallet is not such a piece of shit for you!
-
• #98
Just loading up the van with bikes! See you there!
-

Leaving in 5, heading to Waterloo to pick up knee guards, should be there before 1.

On my way...just stoping for supplies. See you in about 30mins!
No reports = no degree. No degree = no better job. No better job = no more money. No more money = less bikes. Less bikes = more depressed. More depressed = less willing to play polo. It's a vicious circle I am afraid.
Are megacreeps welcome? If they wear a dress?
