I did this a few years ago. It's well organised, and a really nice route. Accessible by train.

Can anyone tell me: when AUK say mudguards, do they mean with mudflappy things too?

Yep, defo. It's a nice way to start the year - as long as it isn't iced out!
Can anyone tell me: when AUK say mudguards, do they mean
with mudflappy things too?I did it with Race Blades. The reason mudguards are required is because the route can get muddy, and the organisers don't want muddy-arsed cyclists to annoy the controls located in pubs & cafes.

shootthebreeze and tommy are coming too. I just know it.

Just to note: it's not a race, but the aim is to get around in daylight ie in under 7 hours. Average speed (including pub stop) therefore err 14km/hr ie nodder pace.

half wheeling, show boating?
Neither of those, nor switching. Beards & sandals compulsory.
-
• #21
The route covers the roads I grew up riding. It'll be tough in January though.
-
• #22
Which will be tough? The ride or you being able to do it? Do it, Andy!

i did a 16 mile walk around that area last summer. i saw some dead moles strung up on a barbed wire fence. on the plus side i saw a number of hares. the best british animal. and very rarely seen.
i have pencilled this in the diary. am sure it will be a great ride. i just need to sort a bike to do it on. anyone fancy loaning me a bike for the day that would be great.
