Why not push this right back to October?
With big teams there its not going to be a qualification for the worlds so what does it matter?
Whay not give yourselves the chance to do it properly without rushing.

and it being cooler!

And cheaper

Why does everyone think Barcelona aren't ready for this? Most of the hard work's done, they just needed the city to sign off on the space again, which they haven't... hence the new date when they can have the space.
Seattle are currently using the top 16 from the Euros to allocate the Worlds slots to Europe... what's the alternative if the Euros were pushed back to October?
New date, same setup, it's going to be great (just marginally hotter and with a couple teams away in Chicago)?

But, pushing it back means it's not truly representative of Europe, as some of the top teams will have members missing, as they will have already started their summer travels. It's a pretty major change, so why would we assume that they ARE ready?

It's a pretty late scedule, but are the dates FIRM now??

• #241
nope

Either way it's up to Barcelona to decide what's best and make the decisions..? It's their tourney, etc?
Maybe we should instead just ask for the confirmed plan/dates/everything by X date? Alejandro said the confirmed details are coming over the next few days?
-
• #243
Yeah, it's their tourney, lets leave them to it. It's just a shame it feels like they didn't get things going, or the city has been a pain in the ass. It will be weird without ponies, DTGP and MGM there.

Perhaps Jono knows something we dont but as far as i am concerned they have not got my vote of confidence at his point in time.
Im sure that when it comes around it will be great but its a huge shame that its all been left so late and that dates could still be changed again. I know the spanish have a relaxed attitude but not everyone can organise what they are doing (work/ life) at the drop of a hat.
Maybe im being dramatic and i know that early june was never confirmed but its what a lot of people were banking on.

The date would ideally have been confirmed ages ago, agreed. The city weren't playing ball though... they've found an alternative date that works and have hosted an awesome tournament in the past (Sexy Polo Beer), everything else is just reading between the lines surely?
Agreed it sucks that some teams can't make it, but I'm sure there's lots of work behind the scenes to make sure the tournament is a success... no doubt we'll get a big update from Barca this week.
-
• #247
From what they're saying on LOBP, they can't use city land for the tournament so they're looking for private space. They have no idea if they'll have 1 court or 4. Consequently no idea of allocations, format or how many people they will be putting a tournament on for.
I don't think it's surprising people are stressing out.

Shit happens. It's annoying, though.

I'm gonna sub for MGM.

Me too. Who shall we get for a third?
Nice B!
Preordering our food on the phone... ;)
And the "Erna" (that's the machines name) not working!
Ouch!
