I’m curious… in the internal comm’s that went out in your workplace about the queen’s passing, was there any space given to:
• acknowledging the trauma this could stir up for marginalised folk?
• offering spaces and permission to express a range of responses?
• explicit naming of the complex and harmful history of the monarchy?
• any acknowledgment of the right to opt out or feel neutral?Or did the message contain an assumption that everyone would be experiencing grief /mourning /respect etc?
I realise you might not want to answer this question in public, so feel free to DM me or to take this as an opportunity to reflect even if you don’t answer in comments

i bet the north koreans have done some amazing queueing in their time, on their way to fake some tears for a glorious ex-leader

I might go and join the queue just to get a wrist band.
I wonder if they're branded?
Edit. Oooh, they are. Suhweeeeeeet

mrs-ru has decided to get up at 3am to go join the queue tomorrow morning. More out of historical moment witnessing than any grief. I won't be joining her.

I imagine this is the reason a majority of the people are there.

There is probably a queue for that.

I've just watched some of the queue footage for the first time, I already found it batshit crazy that anyone would do it but when you see what the culmination of all that queing leads to it's an even greater spectacular waste of time than I thought possible.
It's also quite funny comparing it to the footage of George VI's, that grainy black and white footage of smartly dressed somber plebs filing past gives it historically significant look that is ruined with full colour piniging HD images of people in leggins and crocs.
