slightly more curved??
it needs to be steeper or have a barrier of sorts then they wont go close to or over the edge.
so you saying that the number of people going over the edge without safety clothing or helmets into the crowd is not a health and safety issue?
sorry if i missed something

Also. The red line is the shortest, safest most comfortable line to ride, if anyone has ever taken an interest in riding on a track they would know this.
It just doesn't make any sense to me why anyone would feel it is safer to ride at full speed so close to the out side edge!
I have been there and once you glimpse the edge it scares the shit out of you!!
Such an amazing event and Red Bull did a great job of bringing it to London.
I'm awaiting the next one to be confirmed in anticipation :)

Everyone who rode the track wore helmets and areas on the floor were marked out with areas to not be stood in.

Andy, sorry for sounding negative, its only because I hurt myself. The people with more self control managed to go slower when feeling a bit sketchy.
Thank you for organising this and ruunning it all smoothly. -

Red Bull organised the whole thing, but I was involved quite early on.
I hope you will try it again next time :)

Just like bike polo. You want to try it and then you find yourself at A&E.

So, did anybody actually manage 80km/h?
Red Bull Mini Drome will challenge both body and mind as riders will need to navigate themselves around a unique, and technically challenging, course reaching speeds of up to 80 km/h.

No... I think that was a miss quote.
I would say the maximum speed reached over 10 laps was around 22-23 mph...
I could be wrong though, It may have been more! -

That was Toby Sherwood. He is a rider up in Scotland for edinburgh cc i think.
I leant him my wheel because he didnt have the right sprocket, that wasnt damaged, but his frame was badly damaged!!
Almost, a Scottish rider in London for City of Edinburgh RC. I think the damage is terminal. Also, not sure i could ever really race 100% on it again knowing, even if it was fixed in some way.
I was surprised how easy the track was to ride so I thought I must not have been going fast enough and kept upping it until I discovered it's not so easy...
It's not a bad design IMO, but not perfect, all the fastest guys were running out close to the edge on the straights or off the edge in my case.
I think the stay impacted with the edge of the track. Photos of the damage below \/ :-)http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=6208180&l=52c40aa139&id=586536482

Round a small track. This was not a velodrome for track riders. It was for trick riders.
It was bloddy good fun though. I wish I had more time on the track.

Side Effects of Urethane need to make a concrete one of these.

^ copy that. It became pretty obvious that anyone who rode on the tops of their bars or with risers faired much better. Going down on the drops was just too cramped in the corners, even if it was keeping it 'real'.

I seemed that the faster ridders also went a bit higher in the banking and sprinted the streights. I tried to keep it a little smoother and stuck the red line. I wanst anywhere near as fast. It was a little like riding a bowl on a BMX. Fair play, they may have been a little sketchier but they really had the smeed.

Quality event! Cheers to everyone involved in making it happen. I've done a little write up of my day with a few pics and a vid here if you fancy a peep.

To be fair, I think Chris Akrigg would be pretty damn quick round a proper track too, hes just an extremely skilled rider no matter what the discipline.

The tracks need to be a bit bigger, so 2 people can properly have at it - great idea, just need refining

There is skill on a bike and having the legs. They are different things. Some riders have both. I do think that this track was more set up for trick riders that proper track riders though. Thats not a critisisum. It was really fun to ride.
That would have made it even more dangerous because if you had that edge and hit it at full speed, instead of just dropping off... you would be flipping off.
