  • Bet you don't look as smart though...

  • What I hate about riding when it's snowing is that snow always seems to collect on my glasses and I end up not being able to see where i'm going. Not really sure what you can do about that.

Never found this to be an issue, it is somewhat with rain. But not snow.

What does fucking kill me though is forehead/brow freezing and cramping up with water and wind blasting against it. Brow starts to immediately contract (like its gonna make me warmer or something!) then I get painful cramps on my forhead.

  • Bouffant!!!!

    That's what he meant...

  • I just ride slicks and wear ski googles for the snow aha

  • Coldest night yet?

    Location:Birmingham / Airport
    Temperature:-10 °C
    Comfort level:-10 °C
    Dew point:-11 °C
    Barometer:1003 millibars
    Humidity:93%
    Wind:No wind

  • It was so cold this morning (-8) condensation from my breath froze to my beard...

  • That's quality. The freezing fog felt like I was inhaling popping candy!!

  • I just stashed a can of de icer to actually get 'in to' work...

    Petty cash calls...

  • Came in on the canal today, thought it would be 'pretty'.

The towpaths from Edgbaston reservoir/Winson Green are a sheet of ice, not just icy or a bit slippery in places but a total sheet of ice.

Just getting down the ramp involved walking like an old lady with massive hemorrhoids holding onto the wall to keep upright, then the towpath itself, even where it's a gritty surface not just where paved, was about an inch thick with super polished ice all the way in until Gas St.

Just a heads up, I doubt you'd actually fall in the canal as the water is frozen and had footprints on but I've not seen the towpath like that before, guess the melt on Saturday froze solid and has been buffed to a sheen by goblins or something.

  • i was roasting on my way in, it was warm as f--k

  • I've spent an hour wondering what those two missing letters are...

  • So it's getting warmer for a few days and then going back to being freezing.
Awesome, that means germs will breed, everyone will get the flu or some shit and cough at me everywhere I go.

  • I've spent an hour wondering what those two missing letters are...

    or

  • Epic looking snow.

  • Epically overexagerrated now...

  • Epically overexagerrated now...

    heh heh =)

  • yesterday

  • I still can't believe you have a bike-computer....

  • It's just so I can work out distances, not speed. Sometimes shortcuts aren't, I'm interested in that shit.

  • Okay. Distances aren't everything though. If it's half the distance but it's a 20% gradient, you'd be better off on the longcut. I learned this recently when I plotted a route on mapmyride.com, which took in all the hills I usually avoid.

  • Are you rocking downtube shifters on that? Didnt think modern frames had the lugs for em.

  • That's a workhorse Void. I really like it. Then, I still crave my steamroller.....

  • Are you rocking downtube shifters on that? Didnt think modern frames had the lugs for em.

Surly Cross Check has lugs as standard, and the shifters make a lovely sound on the steel frame.

@ PB, thanks gov, has Schwalbe Land Cruisers on now, 35mm, got home on the canals last night.
    Are you in WA yet?

  • @ Void - Not yet my friend. Its been a bit tedious.
Flights took a massive peak at £3,000 return per person at the time our flight got cancelled!
However, we're now flying from Heathrow to Frankfurt - with a 12 hour stop over, then Frankfurt to Seattle.....

  • Ha, I did Austin-Chicago-Warsaw-Heathrow once just because it was cheapest way to fly with bike (free bikes on LOT), took about 24 hours. You have my sympathies mixed with healthy jealousy that you'll be over there, have a nice trip.
