Isn't this a similar debate to the one had before compulsory education was introduced?
Poor people don't need to spell, they just look after pigs? And what happens as soon as scoiety goes tits up?
Kids nowadays, they can't even read or write.
Kids nowadays, exams are so easy.
people need to chill out and take a step back. years ago lots of people didn't even go to school.
the education standard in this country is rising. i think everyone should have a degree. it is a good thing. then my MA will be seen as more special, right?

Not all people are academic.
We still need labourers, plumbers, brickies shop staff etc.

I would seriously consider a Phd in retail.
'thats Dr Sales Advisor to you Madam, I think you'll find I know what looks most flattering on you...'

I was not aware that it was top trumps- I shall play the "My Father" card.
Three degrees, an MA and a Phd.
If I cannot play that card then I shall play "Me", I have a swimming certificate, Bronze.

God, If I'd done the Three Degrees, at his age I'd be drinking out on it every night.

I was offered the Erasmus grant while at uni.
I could end up doing PhD in Holland, but for some strange reason I chose to gain some experience in gastronomy on Kings Street. I've learnt more washing dishes then ever before in my life... -

My girlfriend is at the protests in Manchester, lots of students sitting down outside the town hall, a few 'anarchists' starting fights with police, but nothing too drastic...
-
• #623
lets hope those photojournalists get kettled up for the good of society
maybe a counter demo to protest against them for getting the anarchists all hot under the collar -

I wonder where Smyth is.

From the Guardian's list of protest Tweets:
• "Never seen the queue for Leeds Greggs so big. Protesting obviously makes people hungry."
Fuck's sake.
Us northerners can't even protest properly...
