Does anyone have an good saved videos on fitting kitchen doors to builtin /inline freezers?
Ours blew up at the weekend and I'll need to refit the door to the new one.
Cheers. -

The new freezer will come with instructions and maybe even a drilling template. I’ve done loads and never needed more than that. They’re all slightly different too so a generic video wouldn’t be much help.

I used 12 concrete filled cardboard piling tubes (300mm ID x 600mm deep), with high strength concrete & reinforced with rebar.
The floor frame rested on adjustable base pads (each with a load limit of 1,400kg)
Overall cost was ~£500 iirc.

Cheers.
It new off ebay with a damaged front... so I'm now hoping it still has instructions!

cardboard piling tubes
Do these ultimately degrade leaving just a concrete post?
-
• #39282
Ah they'll be online otherwise. It's not that complicated, just methodical.

Oakwood garden rooms do a good system that looks cheaper than full on ground screws

Yeah I've looked at loads of their videos, they're excellent. No music, no bullshit and comprehensive.

Nice tip, certainly seems like a good place to get started. Thanks.

Thanks. How did you work out the size of the piling tubes? 300x600 x12 seems a lot but then again I don't know the size of your garden room. We're doing a lot of stuff with our architect still though so i'll tap him up for his recommendations.
The price is a bit more in our range for sure.

Not sure if it applies to you but we needed planning permission to extend our house. The building control guy was around twice to inspect the foundations. He was very interested in ‘the hole’ before any concrete was put in it.

We've sorted the planning permission, just need to build the thing now. I was hoping I could just take pics of the foundations and have the building control guy only get involved when the proper work starts on the main house. I'll chat with our structural guy and see what he reckons. Ta.

Good stuff! My concern was you were planning to pour concrete etc without any inspection. Good luck with the build.

Question for the hobbyist/pro carpenter types;
I'm trying to design a bereau type wall mounted desk unit desk itself will be no deeper than 600mm and sorted by the things pictured below.
My question is about sag, and how to avoid it. I'm guessing 1 skin of 18mm ply will be bendy so considering making the desk a shallow box section with a small recess to stash keyboard etc. Either that or just double up the ply, possibly with some kind of metal reinforcement sandwiched in between.
Any tricks I'm missing?

You are missing the sagulator :-

Vitsoe already do a good option for what you are designing as well!

Should have checked, I was thinking that only calculated across the width but it does take in to account depth, which makes sense now I think about it.
Can't see the Vitsoe option. I need it to fold in to an alcove most of the time to allow access to an exterior door (seldom used) and hide a big monitor.

The Vitsoe one won't fold. It is only 2 pins to remove it though!

There are plenty of them out there pre made, Murphy desks is a good term to search. I have one that has a leg that folds out as I can’t be trusted not to lever myself up by pushing down on it.
Like this but not this: https://www.wayfair.co.uk/furniture/pdp/17-stories-magicbox-wall-mounted-computer-desk-white-istanbul-u003203921.html

Weighs a tonne though!

The advice I got further up the thread about felt lap vents for the roof seemed to have made a fair bit of difference.
In my case the humidity got worse (obvious thinking about it now) after we boarded the loft, and also recently getting solar panels on the roof.
Lap vents seem to have got rid of the condensation on the inside of the roof felt, but not before an Ikea seat got proper mouldy and had to be chucked out.

Fitted more to mine at the weekend too, then noticed the water pouring down the face of the chimney.... oh.
Ali Dymock's YouTube is probably a good place to start.
