Paint. Should I get some cheap white emulsion for my ceiling, or spend double on dulux trade vinyl? Will I notice?
-
• #13728
Big tub of Dulux trade supermatt is always useful...
-
• #13729
supermatt, not vinyl? I have no idea.
-

I guess it's personal preference but coverage is amazing, super thick and the supermatt covers all manner of sins if there surface isn't perfect.

Speak to me of your desire for wood, Soul?

I used the pure white matt emulsion. 10l for £20. Painted both walls and ceilings with it. Looks great and at a price I loved. Needed 4 coats on the darker blue walls though.

Ok, so we've been hacking away at the silicone in our shower as it's pretty manly, however, looking at it now we're thinking we should just replace the whole thing. Looking online, it seems to be a bit of an odd size at 720 X 720mm or am I looking in the wrong place? Also, only planning on changing the tray and enclosure, is that a plumber or builder/joiner type job?

In the very near future I am going to be painting the entirety of my renovated house. Nearly all fresh plaster.
The scale is somewhat daunting and I feel like there must be a better/faster way than traditional brush and roller approach. None of the final flooring will be down. Is there a sprayer/mega roller/something else that is going to make my life easier?

Have a look at airless spray equipment.
-
• #13742
18” roller and massive paint bucket is the easiest. If you don’t mind masking spray might suit you but there’s a lot to learn about setup and cleaning and it’s expensive to buy decent equipment.
-
• #13743
Airless paint sprayers look like an interesting option. Cleaning looks relatively straightforward as long as you get one with an 'in' pipe which draws directly from a paint can or bucket. £££ though.

You still have to consider the amount of paint you’ll be spraying before you clean it as you waste all the paint in the machine. I don’t have one as I’ve found I’m never faced with an entire house to paint but if you’re prepared to mask everything and paint it all in one go it might be worth it. Newly plastered walls are rarely perfect either so there might be a lot of prep anyway, the prep work and woodwork is the most time consuming aspect of most decorating jobs which is why I still reckon an 18” roller is a good balance between speed and cost.

Something with power and perhaps battery packs that can be used on other power tools?

I got this DeWalt twin pack recently.
Impact driver is great fun. Makes me want to take all my furniture apart and put it back together again.

In what way?
If you drop the knife for some reason or knock one of the others off as you take the knife you want out the blades don't have to fall past your wrist/hand.
-
• #13749
why?

this is the sort of thing im looking at. Are the batteries compatible with other DeWalt toys?
DM'd :)
