Cheers both. I'm not particularly keen on taking it all up, the tiles go under the units so it would be a hassle and in a couple of years I'll be moving the kitchen so it will all be coming up. Just looking for a temporary fix to make it look a bit better for a year or two.

Just heard from a neighbour that he's used a specific cartridge applied goop for this job successfully. Not sure what it's called but it was apparently expensive, like £40 for a tube of it. Should qualify that was to fix the wobbling cracked tile, I assume that they can be regrouted after that.

Anyone got any recommendations on breathable external paint to go over lime render? Don't really want to use lime wash so was looking at silicate paints, but they are pricy so wouldn't mind some first hand experience.

Oricalcum might know. They supply a lot of linseed oil paint. I've used one that was supplied by a customer but can't remember the name!

This is the one I am looking at https://www.mikewye.co.uk/product/seciltek-silicate-paint-sp-01/
Has a SD value of 0.01, which is pretty damn low apparently.

We usually specify Keim.
It's expensive, but apparantly goes a long way.
A thing with silicate paints is that due to colour variations and fade you can't really touch up, but have to repaint entire surface if there's a repair in the future. -

Yes Keim was another one I have on the list.
Looking into it it may actually be cheaper than the other one I found...

On the subject of kitchen floors - I'm getting mine ripped up in a week or two because I hate it... any suggestions for a replacement? Not sure of condition of board underneath, tempted to paint them black...
oh ffs... classic reply to an old post.

Did we resolve urethane varnish and wood worktops?

Only worth it if you can do both top & bottom - otherwise warping

Ok. So just Danish oil X 9000000 coats ?
-
• #11138
That's what I'm doing - then wax oil, when I have the time

when I have the time
O
Lolololol -

Didn't we also have this discussion before,
'Danish Oil' = tung oil and/0r linseed oil with heavy metal additives to speed up the drying time,
with the commensurate limitations on food contact? -
• #11142
I wasn't listening.

Apologies,
the 'we' should have been 'on/in this thread',
rather than 'us'. -
• #11144
I'm still not listening.

Someone just put a jar of biscuits in front of me. It's problematic.

Anyone have an idea what I'd use to secure window boxes on the sills of a top Floor flat?
