  • Made a travel games set. Chess is on the reverse of Backgammon. Room inside for a pack of cards too.

Doing it out of real wood would be better but this is what I had to hand.

  • I know the board is wrong, one side needs to be reversed, but not sure it actually matters for gameplay

  • Blatant cross post from my own thread, but now I have a few more "successful" projects under my belt (read: they haven't gone straight to the tip), I'd like to start thinking about using some nicer wood on whatever I do next. Usually I'll get whatever pressure treated boards are going cheap at B&Q, Wickes or Fulham timber, especially for outdoor stuff. But I'd like to up the finish/complexity/wank factor a bit so looking for recommendations for decent timber suppliers who don't mind the small quantities of an annoying hobbyist.

  • Test build of a new 2.8m ball this week we’ve been playing with.
Real ship-in-a-bottle job as we only have enough space in our unit to assemble it in situ and lift it a few inches out the dolly for testing.
When rigged for jobs those seams are covered(Velcro mirrored belts).
This is probably more industrial than craftsman project I suppose but will snap a pic of the smaller project on my bench at the mo, it’s far more interesting.

  • Very impressive last few posts on here, keep them coming!

  • You'll be needing a visit to these guys

  • If they were in south London that would be ideal

  • Multicolour geometric on the bench. Only 600mm diameter ball but this will be somewhere in the region of 60-70hrs work as it’s all gonna be hand cut.

  • Not as fancy as @stevo_com chairs. But knocked this up this morning our of an old bed. It's my little ones birthday party today and we needed some more small person seating

  • That's a great morning's work

  • Yeah, nice! I remember as a kid loving furniture and such that was my size.

  • I finished that ball in the end. Doing another for the boss but fucking hell I don’t want to make these too often..

  • That ball is insane!

Table update. There were no table related injuries, even with 3 kids and an adult sat on it. Party was not incident free, but i can't claim responsibility for any injuries.

  • Bit late for this - but fallen and felled in Walthamstow

  • I'm tempted to have a go at one of these.

    So clever!

  • Although the idea of scarf jointing two bits of 3mm ply fills me with dread

  • Made a one-off washbag for @owl of this parish.

Lovely soft sofa leather, yellow stitch with copper rivets.

  • Inspired!!

  • Nice Toledo lamp.

  • Bravo!

  • It's not like me to get excited over a lump of old timber, but the thing is that this is REALLY old. It's Bog Oak which grew in a swamp, died upright and gently subsided into it, where it has been preserved anaerobically ever since. It has been carbon dated as 3000 years old. It pre-dates ancient Greece and Rome and was old before a carpenter was nailed to a cross.

Anyway, it was given to me by a bloke who deals in rare timber, so long as I make him a stick from it. It retails at £1200 for an 8' plank! There should be 2, possibly 3, stick handles in it. The first step is to plank it by hand, there isn't currently a single flat surface. I shall report back at intervals...
