Dude, glad you're ok.
For my 2cents, i would take it up with the proper channels.
£40 quid is pants and i bet they're NOT prepared to go above £100 without a whinge.Go through the company, they have insurance and you stand to get more basically ?
Doffing my cap to you sir for keeping it civil though :)

Glad you're fairing well BDW.
I'd go down the official route too. Best of luck.

• #33
Do you reckon it's best to go straight to the bus company or do it through my Home and Content insurance and let them battle it out with the bus company?
-
• #34
Does you H&C offer advice for this type of accident? Are you a member of any organisation that offers legal advice (LCC, CTC)?
It's always nice to a lest have chat who has been through the system before even if you don't use their expertise later down the line. I'd personally like to speak to some legal bod before hand. -

Glad you're ok, Wayne.
Make sure you report the driver - he's a pro at the end of the day.Almost the same happened to me in Bow and the driver of the night bus wanted to fight, because I pointed out to him, that there's an ASL box on purpose..

There are two issues here though; one is the insurance claim, the other is possible disciplinary action against the driver (though obviously they are connected). The bus company need to know asap if they are to do anything to improve her driving - maybe even suspend her from work, I don't know. The bus CCTV will clearly show what happened.

Well thank Tynan your alright - think you have to go through the proper channels if you want to get a fair price for the repairs
-
• #38
Let's hope the CCTV footage will be kept... report to the bus co asap Wayno, and the popo.

Then join CTC or LCC if you aren't already a member...

What was the damage to the bus?
Seriously fella, glad you're OK. Get a quote from your LBC for a snazzy new wheel (assuming frame isn't damaged), then call her to tell her how much it'll be. If she Kicks up calmly explain that just like sports cars there are expensive sports bikes and unfortunately she ran into one, plus of course you have a quote on paper from LBC you're happy to show her. Also explain that if she doesn't want to pay you'll have no choice but to go through her employers. I reckon she realises she's fucked up and doesn't want disciplinary / shame /grief / piss-taking from work.
Good effort for not losing your rag.

tell her you had bought one of pistis (you will have to explain who he is of course) half K wheels and that its completely fucked now.....

Do you have a copy of the CCTV or know that a copy will remain intact?
Go as official as you can. Report to Police as you might need a Police report number if any insurance companies get involved.
I recently had a case dropped where a bus driver hit me and drove off. The Police didn't think it would be successful if taken to court despite my having photos of the driver and bus and a positive witness statement from another bus driver who was travelling behind us at the time and saw the whole incident and told the Police that the driver blatantly hit me and drove off.
It's amazing how quickly something that seems so cut and dry can turn into parties involved not playing ball. Get everything down on paper and reported through all the proper channels asap.
She is a "professional" driver yet still managed to nearly drive a huge bus over you on a small bike. That's not right. You might view it as a mistake but a foot or two further and you'd have been under the bus too, not just your wheel. If people aren't reprimanded enough for these incidents it sends a message that it's ok and next time someone might end up with less of a lucky escape from a potentially deadly incident.
Good on you for keeping it calm though. Not easy to do in these situations. Very easy to let the adrenalin and survival instincts kick in and go over the top. Glad you're ok.

glad you are OK wayne
I wouldn't report it personally, but it would probably depend on how she reacted to the situation. If she was apologetic, then don't.. as long as she's willing to pay privately to cover the damage.. be reasonable about it, everyone makes mistakes - i've found London bus drivers to be really well trained. I would say, though, if she makes any kind of fuss about the cost then you might wanna think about going through that channel.
Reporting her could make her lose her job

official route is the only way. A family friend got knocked off by a bus, luckily only bruised and got back on and rode to work she got £800. The bus company don't want these things in the press so are probably going to be nice about the situation. Even if she was nice sounds dangerous to be missing lit cyclists.
glad you are ok

Glad you are OK.
No win no fee solicitors like a nice personal injury claim, over damage.
I hope it goes well.

Was worried when I read the thread title, glad your ok though.
I was nudged forward last week at a junction by a car which wasn't even aware what it was doing. Some drivers need extra training, don't let them get "away" with it.
Yeah, man, wanted to sneak in there that I'm really glad you're OK, too.
