Singlespeed Worlds (SSWC) 2011 - Ireland

It looks like next year's Single Speed World Championships are going to be held in Ireland, which is just a drive and a ferry away.

Given that this is the only World Championship level race that I am/will ever be allowed to enter, I thought that I might head over and get schooled by some very, very fast riders and I wondered if anyone else fancied going.

If there is enough interest, might it even be worth fielding a LFGSS team? (Not that I'd necessarily make the cut).

Also, if anyone (i.e. Dave K) wants to get a Forward Components (http://www.forwardcycle.com/) eccentric BB in for a forum test and needs someone to race test it, I'll happily volunteer as it looks like a much cleaner conversion method than a Singulator (or similar).

I wouldn't worry about 'fast riders' SSWC is quite a relaxed event. Don't forget your costume.

I've ridden the SSWC in Australia. It's great fun.

You can take it very seriously (generally frowned upon) or you can just get pissed up, get naked, sit around drinking cans, ride your bike a bit, wear a skirt, drink, ride some more, etc.

Recommended.

I'm certainly thinking of doing it. SSUK and SSEC have been great, SSWC looks like the same but with bells on!

I have made contact, it looks like the ideal place to premier our SSMTB rig kitted out with Surly 1x1's and some bumpy rollers.

I don't suppose Rollapaluza want to give any potential entrants a lift over in the van?

We might do, we have to the others that we have been to. It is a long way off and they might not want us there.

It's fucking gorgeous over there. I love Limerick, and the countryside is amazing. I did a bit of MTB'ing in the area during the mid-90's - great fun.

its too much to get into with the travel for one event, I can do 6/7 other day events for the same cost,and tbh, its more about the drinking and social and as my name suggests Im more of a hardcore m.f that wants to race more and do longer rides,
I can rinse most of these drinking /smoking guys out no worries. (ego but true)
