Resurrecting this thread as just booked 6 nights in Orkney after reading Psychogeography by Will Self. Staying in 6 different places and walking between each, quietly pumped. Might even walk to London City Airport for the full experience as will be walking out of the airport the other side.

I've made a point to go for a walk every day this year, somedays its a struggle but don't want to end the streak at this point, not managed a 50 mile week yet but got close so is next target

That’s a big target. I thought I walked a lot. Just checked to see how far I’ve walked this month. 170 miles.
Must get out more! -

That’s great. I’ve just watched some of that. I’ll watch some more when I get back from my walk.

I fancy telling people that I walked 28 miles in 12 hours this weekend. Along Hadrian's wall, with 1150m of vertical.
It was awesome and we raised a shit tonne of money.

Well done, what did you raise money for if you don't mind me asking
-
• #193
Wow, well done! How are your feet?

Well done, what did you raise money for if you don't mind me asking
It was part of the Brick Court Chambers' Centenary Challenge. Here's a cut and paste from their funding page:
for four excellent and important charities. First and foremost, we are raising money for two brilliant social mobility charities - the Sutton Trust and IntoUniversity. Keen not to forget our legal roots, we are also raising money for two superb legal charities - Advocate and the Access to Justice Foundation
So far the challenge has raised nearly £200k

As for my feet, I counted 17 separate blisters and have two black nails.
The last 2km were pretty desperate.

• #196
Urghhh that sounds gross. Hope you took some flipflops along for afterwards.

What shoes did you end up using?
-
• #198
Amazing, that is a lot raised!

What shoes did you end up using?
My walking boots, which did a good job of protecting my hips, by stabilising my ankles.
The blisters were a bit of a fail on my part. At the penultimate pause I knew that I should be removing my boots and re-taping, but I decided to carry on without. Error.

Have you recovered yet (you great prancing suburban softie)? We're currently doing about 12 miles a day of this sort of track, not for charity or fitness but because it's the best way to my favourite pub in Lynmouth.
