  • Kangoo is a very sound choice if you are into MTB'ing as there is a little 4X4 one that is extremely capable.

  • it doesn't matter what you want it for or who you are just buy the best golf you can get for your budget.

    done.

    B.

  • just buy the best golf you can get for your budget.

So that would be the Skoda Octavia then.

  • skoda octavia estate, audi a4 estate, 1990s merc e class, golf, fiat multipla, or one of these....

  • That'd be great were it not for 'traffic calming' road humps - pretty soon you'd need all that boot space to fit the front spoiler in after attempting to go over the first one.

  • Fair point dat, I'll take have two then. Do you take credit cards?

  • if we do western union transfer it will be more secure? payment upfront delivery within 2-3 working days....

  • God damn you Hippy, I have been obsessing about this car over the weekend:

  • ^Needs roof rails and to lose the lip spoiler.

  • Stageas are full of win. Can't get a decent one for £2000 though. Skoda Octavia/VW Passat is a good shout.

  • just don't buy the wrong one

eeeek not as OTT as the above

  • OK, so I have managed to land myself a job working for Schlumberger as a field engineer. Now that I'm a big oilman I will need a big oilman car, I was thinking big volvo myself, also I will be working in Aberdeen so that may be a consideration. Any suggestions?

  • Saab 93 Estate.

Room for the bikes, heated seats, handles like a normal exec car, looks classy.

  • Porsche Cayenne all the way , gotta fit in, ask Eightball he lives there.

  • Liking the saab at the mo. I see what you're saying about the Porsche but I don't want to be that guy! Probably want to get something with reasonable mileage as well so I can drive down to my sisters in blackpool without breaking the bank!

  • ah , i see,
    Ford Capri

  • Can pick these up for about £5k-£10k

  • ah , i see,
    Ford Capri

    Or this.

  • Its how they roll in texas.

  • Can pick these up for about £5k-£10k

Fucking yes, that looks like just the ticket.

  • Has this been resolved yet?

  • Look at this thread dredge. Look at it. Its only even tenuously related, but I figure a split is better than a merge.

Anyway, I'm sitting my driving test tomorrow arvo and naturally I expect to pass because I am so super. When I do pass, I suppose I will need a car. There are lots of cars on the bay. So far, so good, amirite? But how does buying cars off the bay actually work? I mean it's not like you can kick the tyres and take it for a spin and that. Is it all just caveat emptor? What protection is there (if any) if a car turns out to be even worse than described?

NB the cars i am looking at are all early-2000s / 1990s shitheaps with like 1.5ml engines. I only really need the thing to last for the 12 month limbo period between passing and being allowed to drive hire vehicles instead. This probably means there's more likelihood of there being something hideously wrong, of course.

I did not find any Ford Capris but I did find this fetching pink Ford Fiesta that is apparently closing in a matter of seconds: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2000-FORD-FIESTA-FINESSE-PINK-/170614873005?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item27b9705bad - edit, oh we're all too late :-( Maybe they will relist it!

  • Do not buy a car without taking it for a test drive.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I just don't see how it's supposed to work on fleabay - as I understand the rules, if you bid and win, you're basically tied into buying the damn thing. It doesn't seem right that you'd just bid and buy a car without ever seeing it or driving it first, so I must be misunderstanding some crucial part of the process.
