Don't rule out the possibility of winning the stage too - it's harder in the first week as most of the sprinters' teams are fresh, but there will be at least five stages in this Tour that are won by a breakaway.

is there a team tactic involved too? or is it an individual thing?
-
• #354
this would be my favourite Tour ever if Voigt could pick up a breakaway win

Go on then, which in their catalogue of errors is number one? I'm guessing at the total fucking up of the Olympic track programme in the name of gender equality?
Yep, taking away the opportunity for champions to defend their titles in blue-riband cycling events.

Its basically an individual thing. But you need to make sure you're acting against your teams best interests.

who can explain to me what the breakaway group is all about? I have never seen a stage where it appeared to make much difference to the final result.
Two words:
Jacky Durand
kneels at shrine

As I understand it breakaways mostly form so that riders who have fallen in love, among the hurly-burly of the peloton, can get some quality time together.

How many fucking advert on ITV4!

Needless to say, Jacky Durand's wife was a very forgiving woman.

A lot of Jacky's TdF breaks were solo efforts.

Euorosport is way better. although the Sidi ad is bad, there are hardly any ad breaks. Commentary is far better, and more informed too.
Anyone who has Sky should be able to stream Eurosport for free on Sky Player.
Smashing Sidi and Wiggle into the ground, Evans take the 'Most Cringey Advert' this year by some distance.

the boardman/halfords break bumpers will cause me to break a tv at some point over the course of the tour. I know Boardman's the brand, but fuck me, he can't emote whilst delivering his lines.
Ps. I'm thinking of using the term "natural break" everytime I need to go for a piss..

The frequency of them is what's irritating me, even more often than terrestrial ITV

I haven't seen the Yokohama advert yet, that's pretty bad.

The banal commentary is beginning to get to me...
In particular the little dig I just heard as the peloton went past a wind farm.
"what an eyesore, I don't care if they are 'environmentally friendly'"Keep your poorly thought through daily fail opinions off the airwaves.

Sitting at work, forced to furtively check in on progress, is marginaly more frustrating than the advert breaks.
Thanks to whoever posted this: http://gaps.letour.fr/us.php
It's so much better than the guardian's feed, so far anyway. Anyone else pretending to work? How are you keeping up with the tour?

Agreed, absolutely cold - makes Nigel Mansel sound like Stuart Hall
