There's a lot more probably. Maarten Tjallingii does not eat meat, came 3rd in Paris Roubaix this year. AC is off meat since well you know when.
[edit] ow, vegan. that's no animal products at all right? [/edit]

Please keep the vegan chat out of this thread and in the vegan thread if you must, I was happy to ignore that but would at least like to continue with this thread without all of the fucking bollocks that people post about what is and isn't achievable on an animal free existence.

AC is off meat completely?

• #1530
Merckx did well enough on a diet that consisted solely of other cyclists.

Apart from he eats babies, obviously.

After a controversy over doping, three-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador has decided it’s just not worth it to have a steak here and there.

Quite a bold move in support of his explanation (if real)
-
• #1534
Lets see if he tests positive for steak during the tour.

Objection overruled.

Admit it, your idiot savant maths brain is compelled to count those vegans. -

just mostly vegan.
What does this mean though?
Am I temperarily vegan between meat kebabs?

• #1538
Flat today. Cav? or will the rest of the sprint teams gang up on him?

It means having cut out most animal products.
But Object has a point. Vegan Thread. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Bet your house on Cav.

I'm just curious about super athletes with odd diets. They perform on such an absurdly high level I'm surprised any of them would tolerate a less than ideal diet.

Just to be clear. I've lost the money I had riding on Gilbert getting two stages. Havent I?

Not necessarily. The way he is riding he could win any of stages 13, 16 or 17 in my opinion.
-
• #1545
Gilbert on stage 15 maybe? Has he got the legs and team to make it over the hills?
-
• #1546
Actually 16 looks good for a Gilbert attack. Rather him than me though.

13? erm, have you seen that big pointy thing with the letters 'HC' in the profile? same goes for 16 & 17. he's not as good a climber as the GC contenders

1200m elevation over 20km.

But he is good enough to stay with a breakaway and then win in a small group sprint. The GC contendors won't be racing on the Aubisque (sadly) as any time gained on the ascent will be lost on the run in to the finish.

Lars Boom today, fingers crossed :-) he's in the escape now, hope HTC won't grab them for a long while
Baby steps. Veganism isn't some unreachable plateau high up in Platonic Heaven. A lot of steps lead there. If Zabriskie shows in the next few years, assuming he sticks with it, that you can be a very competitive rider while removing the vast majority of animal products from your diet, then that'll be a good mission to accomplish. I don't quite know what it is with other athletes who have been proclaimed vegan; I always thought that they had been full nutritional vegans, but it may be, as other people said in the Vegan Thread, that they weren't, just mostly vegan.
No, you're too fat.
