  • Are the rear hubs out of the bits I sent?

    Yarp

  • The alloy top and lower rear deck are interesting - I think they were made by Cobra who also do a version with a whopping extra 8mm in length to provide a long wheelbase rear engined car.

They also do a conversion kit to mid engine and you can convert the transmission to lay down as Cy of Cotic fame has made the gearbox available through shapeways, amongst other bits.

  • Ah, did think it looked longer than a "normal" buggy, that would explain it.

  • In other news, it's done. Dark it is not, have an Impact? I would say so.

  • Pink Impact

  • Hot Impact?

  • The DF03 is a hell of a lot of fun

  • A busy few evenings working on the soon to be Stadium Truck.

All tapped and shimmed as usual. Gear Diff so I’m trying some new diff grease to tune the slip effect. Picked up 3000/5000 cst .

  • I'm looking forward to giving it it's maiden thrashing. Just waiting on some bullet connectors to free up a bit of space, and ease the battery/esc wiring spaghetti mess (got deans connectors at the moment, bit too bulky).
Dt03 looks like an interesting project, still pleases me no end that you tap the threads rather than ram home Tamiyas self tappers.

  • Waiting on parts from Japan, so I started masking.

  • Nooooooooooooooooooo!

Got through 95% of the paint job and ran out!!

  • Blarrrg

What body is that? Is the aqroshot body the same as the levant/vajraa thing?

Also gonna need other parts to make a dn01-T - presume front uprights and body mounts. Anything else?

  • Dunno what parts needed to convert, but you don't need body mount posts, use velcro round the tub sides, much nearer, unless you like body clips and holes in the shell?

  • I keep seeing this thread pop up and feel bad for not having built mine up yet.

Does anyone want to take my box of bits, do some magic and then give me an RC car? Maybe even with a little bit of a how-to chat? How much would such a service cost me?

The car and I are in SE24, btw.

  • I'd do it for nowt, but I'm a fair travel away.

  • What's a fair travel?

    North London, or Kuala Lumpur?

  • The car and I are in SE24, btw.

Building it is the fun part! Kinda.

What model is it? If you were really desperate I could do it. Body needs paint?

  • use velcro round the tub sides, much nearer, unless you like body clips and holes in the shell?

Not sure that would work on a truck shell - suspect there wouldn't be enough contact area around the nose.

  • I used to build these ~30 years ago.
It's so nice to see so many of the crucial components, having previously been made from injection moulded plastics, to now be fashioned from aluminium.
And finished with sexy anodising, to boot.
I dread to think of the cost.

  • Most of it is still injection moulded plastic although some of it, depending on what you are paying, can be fibre reinforced.

  • yeah, its the same body re-purposed.

you'll need longer front axles, if you want to run truck tyres up front. or hex adaptors to run rear truck tyres on the front.

  • correct, you'll need body mounts.

I have a spare set of TL-01 mounts if you think they will fit?

  • I’ll have a look. Are they the side mounted type for the DT03?

  • Also can confirm that the DN01 is properly rapid with 9.5t brushless and 2s. Squirrels and dogues don’t stand a chance
