Royce would like feedback

It seems simple to me:

A track crank should have outboard bearings like SRAM omnium, arms at least as stiff as Dura Ace, 144 BCD, a 42mm chainline and the Q factor of Campag Record Pistas and weigh less than 800g with a 50t ring (complete).

If they could put that thing in the new Look cranks has that alters the effective arm length from 165 to 170 to 175 then that'd be a mega bonus.

The square taper would be available as well.

Have just spoken with Cliff on the phone regarding hubs, women, Ditchling Beacon and many other things....

He is a little busy clearing away after the show, and in the process of trying to hang a pedal car up on the wall.

He is certainly the one person from the Cycle Show that I have got a lot of respect for, and this is reciprocated.

I will be heading down the factory to speak with him about my hubs in the next few weeks. I mentioned that the cranks looked amazing, and I liked the idea, but made no reference of LFGSS. Or nabbing a set to try out for that matter....

Cycle show thread has some Royce bling but yeah, how are you supposed to give feedback other than on their appearance?

To the skeptics: Royce have made cranks and chainrings before, back in the 80s I believe it was. I have a road set and they seem very well made, though I haven't used them. Kind of part of the skully museum at the mo.

I agree that the idea of square taper also being avaiable is a bit anachronistic: They ought to be thinking about a two-piece crank/axle with outboards, surely.

Nope

Pretty much everyone suggested that they reduce the size of the logo. Elegance and understated-style is what everyone wants.

Mounting the chainring on the inside was to help reduce Q-factor. But looking at it now, I'm not sure how it does that.
