Offroad noob alert. Why would she have both shifter and finger pull brake levers?

It was all the rage a couple of years ago, the idea being that it gives you two hand positions where you can get quick access to the brake levers. It's increasingly rare to see pros still riding this set up, but you do see it a lot in local leagues as a lot of OTP cross bikes come with the extra levers.

The descent of the Cormet d'Roseland is fantastic, fast at the top (the bit in the video) and then very, very technical at the bottom. Superb fun.
