There a several people importing those Gigantex rims and whacking their own transfers on them, there were at least two stalls set up at Herne Hill Good Friday meeting with them on System X type hubs. I've been offered a pair of the rims from Fuerte Bici for £200 on their own.

Long out of town jaunts on the weekend was what I was thinking- get as many miles in whilst the summer is still here.
Also I have a bet with Emilie that I need to get some serious miles in my legs to win.

You don't need carbon wheels for that. If you just won lotto though I'd buy some 404s.

Need shmeed, I want some.
How much are 404's?
I think I'd need the Clydesdale versions...

I'm not too fond of the lacing on the Shimanos. Never have been. Bit shy of spokes..
-
• #20
Have a look at the cheaper far eastern bits on ebay e.g. Matix?
they're supposedly coming out of the same factories that make a lot of the big branded stuffyou can get them de-stickered, in clincher versions. Though I have no idea how many holes you'd require.
Why not a really light weight Aluminium wheel set?
-
• #21
Why not alloy=bling factor/vanity.
I'd be on the phone to the Gumtree chap if I had the funds right now!
If only he'd take an offer of £500...
-
• #22
Why not a durable aluminium set.. if it's long miles were talking about..

"The Zipp 404 Carbon Clincher is the wheelset you've been waiting for. Ater two years of near-constant protyping and refinement, the Zipp Carbon clinchers have arrived. Featuring a revolutionary aero rim shape and carbon materials found nowhere else in the world."
didn't they say that for the last model?
-
• #24
Pretty illogical I know- I need to beat Em up a big hill, so aero is not going to help, but I'll *feel *faster.

Im looking for a wheel set but will deffo consider an Alu version. Don't forget you already have a weight penalty....This IS the way to claw it back
So a customer comes into the shop today with his "business idea" getting my boss (one of the uk's top wheel builders) to lace and build up wheelsets for him to then sell on as full sets. so we're building a test set for him, but we were discussing wether or not there was a market for the wheels, the wheels in question are 50mm carbon deep section, 28h tubular rims built onto generic high flange flip flop sealed cartridge bearing track hubs, so, help us out, big market? any market? what are thoughts?
