the castelli pad i s nice, but a bit thin fur uber long rides.
and on a mavic note..... i have a large mavic jersey that is a bit small for me, and i tried on their small bibs, which were almost too big for me.... they have very odd sizing, def try before you buy.

Stretch your budget and get some Assos Milles. Pricey, but BC did a wicked deal when I got mine. All my comfort issues just went away, women found me more attractive, guys just come up to me and want to be my friend etc. Just AWEsome dude...

Rapha are great, but pricey :)
I've got some dhb tights that have the same pad as the bibs and it's fine - not as good as the rapha ones but still comfortable for long rides..
Basically as long as you use chamois cream any nalani, santini, dhb bibs will be great

wouldn't recommended it, foolishly got some (in the sale) in spite of advice from dj and matt_ha otherwise, not great padding position. I will still wear mine until they irritate me so much I cannot bear it though...

For longer rides I love my Rapha bibs, they are unbelievably comfortable. Quality seems great and the fit is spot on for me, but I am, er, how would I put it, 'sprinters build'.
I have some adidas that I use on the track and they are plenty comfy for for that, but the pad is very thin, so might not be great after a few hours.
The other ones I really like are champsys. They only do custom club kit or their own hideous blue/orange/white ones, but at £40ish, they are really good for the money.

For Shutt VR, if you have a problem TELL THEM. they're a small company and they really care about the feedback and are damn helpful. PM Miggers here or call the number on their website. Give them a chance to fix the problems...
ref BIbs:
I've got the new 3/4 bib short from them just and the pad has changed, thinner@the front and gel parts v nice and very different to the Pro Bib shorts I also bought.Very happy to show them to peeps, not this Thursday tho@wests as I'm at the Barbican@pret a rouler http://pretarouler.co.uk/ with a certain TSR2 :)

Mavic's are nice...lots of good revues of their top end stuff. I also like the top end Pearl Izumi (have plenty of these) and I have always liked Campag bibs too.
All the good stuff tends to be a bit exy unfortunately.

At the risk of flying in the face of conventional wisdom, I actually prefer my Sugoi shorts to my Assos ones. Although in fairness there wasn't a huge difference in price...
FWIW the only piece of cycle clothing I've ever returned unused was Mavic - the stitching fell out as I removed it from the packaging!

Quick Bib review:
Did some km's in my new Skins bib knicks. The fit is truely fantastic. I was a bit concerned with the pad when opened the packet, as it seemed a bit thick. But it contours brilliantly, so doesnt feel in the least bit bulky, especially as the general great fit holds it in place. The compression effect of the material feels good. Feck knows of it offers any real performance/endurance benefits, but its comfortable.
The standard (non compression) Skins LS jersey is very well designed and made from a good mix of materials. The fit was almost as impressive as the bibs too.
Time will tell if the stuff is built to last. But if it is, Skins will be my bib of chioce from now on. Mainly because I felt the fit and pad worked so well together.

Castelli are good but their sizing is odd. I needed XL when I can happily wear M campag ones...
They also seem pretty tight fitting around the privates area- not sure if this is a design intention or not...
Shorts probably are ok but the straps on my bibs arn't a good length compared to the lowers and the fit around the front is not good while I'm on the bike.
When I was still at the Scurgery the jackets were always terribly sized, in the body I was an XL (in most brands I'm L at most) and then the sleeves would be rediculously baggy.
As for Santini I like the kit that I've got and it seems to last really well and I'd definitely recommend it.
