I wear these, but they're black patent...flat mate works for the brand so they were freebies and do the job.

I've finally trashed my Specializeds, and the Times only get used on the turbo after they turned out to be a fraction too small, so got some of these Mavic Scorpio beauties in the CRC sale today. They categorically will not be allowed to get muddy...

If anyone has narrow feet like me i've found some of the nike range to suit for clipless,
I have a pair of nike ACG summer shoes with cleats, thogh I dont get on with them they are comfy. The rest of the time I wear Soloman Fastpacker Womens trail running shoes, infact i live in these shoes/boots as they're light, hard wearing and protect the foot from polo balls and falling bikes.
just me and what I have :)

I have one.
I'd like a pair of trainers that are good for commuting, potentially waterproof / resistant a bit, that I can wear in the (casual) office.
Not cleats, just nice shoe / trainers that are better than cons for cycling in.
What y'all wearing on your feet? Also, I'd welcome ideas about what I should be wearing on my summer European tour next year, non cleats.
Thanks ladies.
Thats exactly what i'm looking for and can't find anywhere
Those fred perry's are nice, do you know where i can get them in black?
Ideally i'd wan"t something looking like quoc pham's but for ladies (and cheaper)

Completely off-topic and I apologise but didn't want to start a new thread :-)
Yesterday I cycled in my (heeled) boots and it was great! First time ever and it was all jennie j's fault .................. partially, anyway as I remembered a chat about cycling in heels so I thought I'd give it a try.
Was supposed to be a pootle but once there was a clear gap in the road, my little legs were spinning madly. No aggro from the boots and I felt tall when putting a foot down - lol.
Must do that again but with full lycra rather than a dress.

Ha, funny you should say that, but I did the same thing the other week on the Brompton, again because of Jen's comments.
It's definitely true, cycling in heels is a lot easier than walking in them - I was suprised how easy it was!
Now to get some SPD's fitting to them...It's in the casual SPD shoe thread but I've just bought and am waiting for some DZR Concubines. Wanted something casual that would work with SPD's and wouldn't look like an NHS special shoe like all the other ones I've ever tried - also couldn't be fucked with laces.
Will report back when I get them.

Ah, a trip to the 'maxx' in order, nice.
What size do womens shoes stop at then? That's rubbish Clefty.
I used to be an 8 at school and now I'm a 6.5. Trufax.
wicks, that's b/c children's shoes are sized differently to adults'.
hope you've had luck. vans never worked for me, they were always soaking by the time I got wherever I was going, but I only like the kind that are extremely simple - just one layer, no padding around the ankle. so that is that. I went to clipless and am the happiest of campers b/c I leave a pair of shoes at work. :D Or, I did when I had a job. D:

You not working 'loo? Lady of leisure, cool.
I was an 8 when I was in my early 20's. I was also a fair bit taller. :( This worries me.Shoe problem solved, I went back to clipless, and treated myself to some dominators. Good times.

I'm thinking of going clipless. I've always been on clips and pedals, so it's all a bit new. Does anybody have a pair kicking around they'd like to sell? I'm after mtb shoes size 3-4 (I have tiny feet). They don't have to be particularly nice, just rugged (they're mostly for polo use).

Sounds like you have a case of the shrinks, like in the Twits.
Ladies shoes generally stop at 7, 8 if you're lucky.
I am usually forced to either go to After8 in Kingston or shop online - which is a bit of a guessing game - Things on the internet can often look a lot better than real life.
Bike shoes aren't much of an issue, I just buy guys - but nice ladies shoes can be.MOC seems to have made it his mission in life to find nice shoes/boots that fit me, so I'm not actually complaining much these days - he bought me a lovely pair of epic over the knee leather boots the other day. It just would be nice to walk past a shoe shop and see something I liked that actually fitted me.

Posture? I grew two inches through yoga as it got rid of some of my cyclist's stoop.
-

I think the shrinks rather than posture, although I must get back in to yoga. I hate the fact that I'm shrinking down but growing out. Getting old sucks!
Lal if you want to try for cheap then CRC alway have cheap womens shoes. Mostly Diadora but I don't know how good they are. Can't go too wrong for £13!

Sold some stuff, gonna sell the Joe Waugh, so I can afford to finally build up the Gazelle. Need to get on Jimbilly for that rear wheel. Want to be riding fixed by Saturday!!
Hm. v strange that your feet shrank that much after you were an adult! I second Oliver's "cyclists slouch" though. Your shoulders are rounded and you're likely taller than you think but need to correct your posture.

I mostly ride with an very old and battered pair of Specialized shoes. Bought them on sale for 25 quid (thank you BC), and can wear them the whole day without discomfort. Working in a school, this is not easy feat.
And they seem to be waterproof, for some strange reason.Black suede boots the rest of the time.

Foot retention is foot retention, you learn to get out of it and it seems to work for those who get the hang of it. I do expect a learning curve (i.e. lotsa bruises).

These arrived today, comfy so far, am wearing them without cleats for a bit to get used to them. The toe/ball section is definitely stiffened, the strap is made out of seatbelt material, so v.strong. They are a little heavy but not offensively so. They also come with rubber cleat covers for when you do wear them with cleats
-
• #49
But how do they look? I have to say just imo from that photo they don't quite seem to avoid the NHS special shoe look, especially as you say the strap is made from seatbelt material???
-
• #50
They're not bad actually, initially i thought they looked a bit 'special' but when on, they are ok.
They do however rub the fuck out of the back of my heels at the moment, as there is some hard stitching at the back, going to sort that out with a bit of moleskine tape. They are basically a bit like the Vans fixed, but with a thicker sole - and much stiffer.
The proof will be in the riding though.
Sigma Sport in Hampton Wick have set up a sale shop in their original store down the road from the new mega store of awesoms and are clearing loads of old stock from their warehouse.
This includes loads of small sizes in Shimano and older Nike road shoes and Giro/Spesh helmets etc. all at least 40%-50% off.
