will, if people meet up on rides, at polo, in a bike shop we all recommend, in the street because they're wearing the forum cap, all well and good, its the interaction I'm looking for, that doesn't consist of the easily mistaken words on a screen. Beers are easy because they are a regular event in most parts of town, that people can get to.

No, I am with BMMF on this; forum 'personas' are a myth. The only time I have found someone different in real life to how they are on here was when I discovered Balki was not a middle aged German woman. Other than that I think what people write on here is a very good guide to what they are like.

Beers lacks the functionality of the forum. No 'ignore' button. More difficult to look at other stuff people have said to see if they're worth engaging with. Almost impossible to use memes effectively. The only consolation really is the beer itself.
