Looks good. Mine all seem ages off.

Yeah, the garden is only about 15m long and at the far end it's as tall as the house (3 storeys)

That's a beauty. Really hoping at least one of mine survives winter!

Saying farewell to our Buxus. No damage yet but unlikely to be far off.

Just discovered that the lawn in the garden of our new place (moved in a month ago) has plastic netting all the way through it about 5-10cm deep. Didn’t know it was a thing at all but apparently it’s how turf is sold. Can’t believe anyone would choose this but there we are.
What I’m wondering is how I can remove it. I don’t care about the lawn at all, but feels like it will be a lot of effort. Any thoughts? -

Had loads of turf laid over the years but none with plastic netting, how did you find out it was there?
-

Is the lawn on a slope? Mesh is used to stop soil creeping down a slope. Not needed for turf otherwise. Isn't turf mainly sold in little rolls? No mesh in there.

Not on a slope, but I had a quick search online and found that loads of turf does have a netting through it. Often sold as ‘degrade-able’ (note not bio-), but that just means eventually it will break up into tiny bits of plastic.
Found out ‘cos our hens have been scratching away in their section. I’m pulling it up as I find it, but it’s such a shit thing generally I’d like to remove as much as I can. -

Maybe Martina, L.A.T.E or Mardi GRAS.

I was in Prague in 2005 when the gardeners clipped the box in Wenceslas Square. I grabbed some cuttings, brought them home and they took. Lost the lot last year. Gutted.

Fairly standard according to my landscaper brother. It is down to make sure that the turf holds together when it is cut, rolled and then unrolled for installation.
Why do you want to remove it?

So the Dahlias have arrived. I might have somewhat under estimated just how many plants were on one order.

My dahlias arrived in a massive box full to the brim too!!

Got mine last week. There were some named varieties which was nice. On the whole the unnamed ones were in good condition apart from the bag labelled yellow. They were a little bit soggy.

Where are you getting your dahlias from? Everywhere I’ve looked are sold out

Any suggestion on hedge to go along the back, its west facing so just gets sun in the late afternoon to evening not sure if it gets less in the winter with a lower sun.
Pretty much 'full shade', not sure if anything will work..

Is it to cover the mesh?
If so ivy in couple of pots would do it.
(or even, heaven forbid, in the ground)

yeah and that it currently feels like a waste of space with half the bed with nothing in it.
Ivy is tempting but wont fill the space, It looks like at some stage there was some other big climber growing up it that has since died (Wisteria?). I dont know how to get something that likes a bit more sun started when before it gets above 6ft it will be in shade.
Growing old waiting for this to flower
