  • I ordered some 6' panels from Eastern Europe. They arrived 1800mm but the included a shim strip of wood if I had already set my posts. But I followed baldie's advice.

  • @RagnarHairybreeks

I hadn't seen that many honey bees this year but now our lavender is out, it's full of them.

  • I hadn’t seen many honey bees either, then the bottle brush tree flowered and now I can’t move for the buggers.

  • It's as sound as it's going to get for a 100yr old wall, I rebuilt most of it as it was a crumbling mess.

Fence will be slated, 900mm high and tied in to these two adjacent runs, so I think it'll be fine in regards to wind. It's a fairly sheltered spot anyway do to the adjacent terrace.

  • I think I'm gonna have to just order them prior to drilling, to be on the safe side or check with supplier. Must be an EU/UK thing I guess.

    Who did you order from?

  • I can't actually recall now, it might have even been through eBay. Was a difficult task at the time if I recall, hence resorting to ebay

  • That’s a nice wheel barrow

  • Bought a new garden set today

  • I live in awe of and lust for that barrow, it's a thing of beauty. It would be broken and the clever components destroyed within a day of use on site.

@Polygon; you should be absolutely fine with a height of 900mm, 3" posts are all you'll need.

  • It is! Had to stump up for a fancy boi one because it was the only one that would fit though the many narrow doorways in my house. Nice to use though, and they accidentally sent me the bucket inserts which I don't really have a use for now but I'm sure they'll come in handy.

  • I have destroyed 3 barrows this year, all in exactly the same way…

Loading them with a mini digger, and they become over balanced, the way to destroy them is to try and “catch” them, one day I will learn to just let them tip…

  • This Passion flower has gone bonkers on our deck, which is fine by me but Mrs Hammer claims to want to sit on the benches. Is it going to be ok if she just hacks it up? Seems a shame to me and long term we want to get it further up the wall.

  • The one we used to have many years ago seemed pretty much unkillable when it got to that kind of size.

  • We had one where a fox chewed through the main stem at the base, survived and then some. They're pretty resilient.

  • I keep untangling this one and feeding the new growth back up to bare sections. I have also cut quite a bit off and it's been totally fine, just watch out as often there are dry looking bits that leads to new growth. I would run another wire further up the wall and try to train it up a bit higher.

  • Anyone got a manual push along lawnmower? My old one has died and wonder if I could replace it with something that doesn't need power.

My garden isn't massive and I enjoy spending time in it, so seems like a good idea?!

Would be interested to know of anyone has one and how they get on with it.

  • They make a very satisfying noise

  • I vaguely recall there is one specific type that is ok

    From their website

Green Gardener only supplies British Adalia bipunctata ladybirds – we do NOT supply Harlequin ladybirds

  • We have one, it’s mostly great - means the lawn actually gets mowed because the mower is light and doesn’t require any setup/packing away.
Where it’s not great are edges against walls/etc and obviously any time it’s not moving it’s not mowing, so tricky nooks need something else too.

  • Thanks, I reckon I'll go for it.

    What make/model do you have?

  • Nail scissors.

  • I think it’s this one (I didn’t buy it or unpack the box) - we use it without the grass collector so it mulches down.
