Have a few seeds (not sure how viable they are) from a Super Chilli (quite hot) and from memory may have a jalapeno seed or two (not hot at all).
If the ones you are tryign don't germinate then tlet me know and I can send you some.
It may be a bit late but I also have some pimento de padron seeds too. Different kettle of fish but at least you can eat them whole without any pain.

Cheers Olaf, I like the idea of ones you can eat whole. One or two of the varieties I grew were too hot to eat at all, which is rather pointless. Although one of them was a lovely little bushy ornamental thing.

Oh and as for the chilli plants surviving winter. Bring them indoors (or never put them out) and they'll be ok. Make sure they are not all cramped together as you'll see fungal infections spread and kill then (I think it's gray mould or something similar that does for them). Last year's plants have been flowering for a couple of weeks now and I've already had a couple of fruits.
I never bothered cutting them back in the winter as the variety I grow aren't that large normally.

Mine always live indoors, but I read that you're supposed to cut them back pretty savagely so that they're dormant through the winter. Frankly I think that's nonsense now, like you say: if they're indoors they can plod straight through. That's what I'll do next time. I'll make sure to keep them apart as that mould sounds nasty.

um aren't chilli's supposed to be one season only they "fruit " then they die kind of thing ?
annuals
half hardy pereniumsI think they are tender perennials as they will not tolerate frost.
Perineum is something quite (hilariously) different

This isn't exactly a gardening question but never mind... does anyone know how long creosote takes to dry? I need to do a fence but apparently it's going to rain later. Though I am sceptical about that because right now everything is sunny and right with the world.

About 2 hours. Put it on thinly.

Bien. Cheers

does anyone know how long creosote takes to dry?
Are you sure that what you are using is creosote and not a substitute?
Actual wood tar creosote was banned for domestic and non-licensed professional use since about 2003.
It is carcinogenic to humans
Do not breathe it in. Do not allow it to come into contact with skin. Do not use it in applications where skin contact is expected such as garden furniture.
It is toxic for cats.

I haven't got a clue, it's my landlord's. I haven't got round to it anyway (got distracted cleaning bikes in the sunshine) so will do it another time. It sounds dead exciting though.

All my mates in Essex look like they've been creosoted.

Does anyone have any German chamomile seeds?

I got some lavender seeds a while back, got one shoot that's growing a few mm a day. Not really sure what to expect, does it spread? Also, those coffee beans I was trying to grow never germinated. My jade plant is growing again but still only a couple of inches high - will grow another when it's big enough to take a leaf from.

I've been having sex, with courgettes!
Before you get all over excited, let me elucidate. I've got some courgettes in my garden, some are boys and some are girls and both produce little baby courgettes, which is nice. But the boy ones are rubbish and small, and, if not pollenated, so are the girls. As the bees round these parts seem a bit lazy I've been doing plant sex stuff, furiously rubbing on the boy parts with a cotton bud and spreading that sex powder onto the lady bits of the girl plants.
As you can imagine, this made me super horny, and I know you're getting off on this too, you filthy gardeners. Once impregnated, I could see my courgette growing by the second, reaching a tumescence previously reserved solely for Peter North. By now my cotton bud was saturated with both boy and girl love juice and my meagre back garden had turned into an orgy!
I'm off for a little lie down.

Does anyone want a pot of mint seedlings?
-
• #99
it's a 'no' to to your mint offer, but I've got some Basil Mint, it's horrible and ruined my Mojito.
-
• #100
Yeah, not the right mint...
I just remembered that I had a batch of dried chilies from the dead plants in a cupboard, so I've stuck a few dozen seeds in the propagator.
