Been having a right battle with them recently - what’s your go to method?

This year my toddler is in nursery quite a few days a week so I'm using these slug pellets recommended by a friend. I bought them partly because I planted veg out just before we went away for a week so wanted some protection. Still a bit worried though as they're a disobedient fucker at the moment.
However, last year my fairly effective method was to go out every night with a head torch for a week and collect them. After than I could just do a couple of nights a week maintenance as it were.
For a sunflowers specifically I put a cut off bottle as a physical barrier. But sadly they none made it this year.
I'm hoping the two pronged attack will help my gherkins and cucumbers make it to prickly leaves.

Tell me about it. I need a fucking Napoleonic size army of them.

I just used a load of Nematodes for the first time, intrigued how well they work at slug destruction

We used last year, effective at dramatically reducing numbers (not eliminating). Possibly creates a species gap because this year we have loads of snails instead!
-

Interesting! I would take snails over slugs, much easier to pick up!
I just need something to stop the rabbits and deer now, they obliterated the first batch of beetroot.

The warmth and rain seems to brought them out in force. Didn't really see too many until the last couple of weeks - now tonnes of them.
May try some beer traps and night collections.

What time of night? I may have to do this. Unless there's a way of persuading the fuckers to eat bind-weed rather than the good stuff.

My garden is just getting better and better. Still learning what everything is as it blooms.

Awesome, what are you planting?

The strawberry shelves I’ve made have been great in some ways. Last night I went to the plot and a strawberry had a perfect bite Mark out of it. Either deer or sadistic human

Will just be a hard wearing grass seed for most of it sadly, as it will be for the kids to play on, currently planning a climbing frame, zip wire and goal.
Going to try and spread a more wildflower mix round the sides and leave them longer so that we get some nice stuff in there, but I also have a wild meadow bit down to the right which I need to try and get more diverse if possible. -

Yes, we have this issue I think to, we have put a lot into raised planters, which just makes it an even easier height for deer to attack.
We have a herd of deer about 10 strong round here, its great to see them all the time, but I would prefer it if they stayed in the fields, quite often have to go out and shout at them to get off the front garden as they love eating the roses.
