I bought a box of grass seeds to make a few boxes of "lawn" to both provide grass for the cat, and distract it from other things (and it actually looks nice, I think, along the base of our balcony). I had some seeds left over, so while topping off the boxes where they were barren, I threw a few in a big pot that has a white currant bush in it (as well as some spring onions that have gone wild and are massive and awesome).
Was this a bad idea? Should I quickly pick the seeds out?

Andyp, might get some of that as well, window box isn't that big, and I think the main issue is the top soil being turned to dust during the summer, so anything that can keep the soil moist is welcome.

Caught the local foxes trying to unsuccessfully steal my plastic pop up greenhouse at 5am this morning (it's tent pegged heavily into the ground) It now has a massive hole in the side of it, quite what their plans for it were I don't know.

Found out this morning they were not trying to steal my greenhouse but just gnawing a hole in it so they could get in and use it as an indoor toilet. My chili plants are a bit squished but have survived and now have loads of fox poo fertiliser on them.
Have removed the greenhouse in the hope they will not be interested anymore if it is not there.

Looks good, I've always wanted a bin burner like that.
More fruit, Greengage are ripe 3 weeks earlier than last year so emergency breakfast pick to get started. Lots rotted on tree before ripening, not ideal not sure why tho.

Sorry - took a while, here is the patient:
This is an Arabica which I germinated from a bean.
It looks very, very sad right now, I'll see if I can find a picture of it last year when it looked rather more cheerful.
I've basically run out of ability to make it live/thrive - if someone could take it away and "fix" it, then it would make me happy.
A bit of heat and coffee has staged something of a comeback.
Do people think that I should take the top part off, and if so what are the odds of getting it to root, if I use rooting powder?
I'd hate to lose the top, but it's definitely a bit base heavy/nothing/canopy.

That suggests that where you are keeping it is too cold for it, no?
You can prune it, but I'd check when it's best to do so. Some plants can be pruned in summer, but others are best done when they are dormant.

@fussballclub looks like and quinoa sweet potato to me? You grow both, if so we'll done! Our allotment is strictly trad veggie fare. I should be more adventurous.

My Numex chilli plants have around 100 chillies on them. Looks like someone will be making chilli jam.

I had it down as sweet potato and quionoa too. Plus some turmeric maybe? Nice squash.
I use blue slate for that. Dead cheap for a big bag at your local garden emporium.
